It's been nice to spend some time on Crusoe Island, but the time to end this adventure has come.

Early in the morning, setting up the Aircraft for her last flight.

It will be a relatively short hop to Vina del Mar, the nearest airport to Valparaíso, Chile.

And, this time, plenty of radioaids to rely on!

Leaving Crusoe Island, keepeng the ADF needle behind us:

The last miles with Pacific Ocean below us:

The needle is pointing to a station on terra firma:

The continent, straight ahead. I feel like Cristoforo Colombo: "Terra! Terra!!!" :P:D

The coast of Chile. Sadly, visibility is not exactly optimal.

But enough to spot the field, Vina del Mar on the right:

Altimeter has some problems. Luckily we do not have to rely on it.

Down softly.

You can't see it in the shot, but there is a crowd waving at our Aircraft! :D

End of the transpacific flight. I hope you enjoyed it as I did (and as Capt. P.G. Taylor did in 1951!)

Really enjoyed this one Ros, great shots and narrative. :thum:  If I was you, I would head right back to Tahiti, set up a hut on the beach and throw my phone in the trash.

I've been sorely tempted to get this Cat after following along on your adventure. It is even on sale right now. :)
