  1. A few years ago, as many of my stories start, I used to have my aztec serviced at rushett farm, near Chessington zoo. The runway there was very short (400m) so one had to be on ones toes to land there and not run through the fence at the end. However I was able to carry out all the work on my a/c whilst being supervised and signed off, by the engineer there , so cutting costs. At the same time there were other a/c based there , one was a morava L200 or something like that, it was a weird twin with engines that looked like a zlins. However I sort of digress.   2. The linked map of the flight path shows him directly over a HUGE field while on the base leg before the final turn, and he was lined up parallel with the furrows. I don't think it would have been difficult to shed the extra altitude and get down into that one with a lower touchdown speed and lot more room to roll out. Flaps sure would have helped if he'd chosen that field. Having said that, not sure what the wind was doing either, so maybe that one had a bad crosswind component.   4. Found this on-line... The Boeing 707 took off from Luxembourg at 07:14 for an IFR flight to Kano, carrying 38 tonnes of freight. The aircraft, on a heading of 199deg, when passing VILAR and the VOR of Martigues, was authorized to leave FL290 for FL330. This flight section was performed in IMC in turbulent air. With the throttles at climb power and autopilot engaged the aircraft was flying at 280 knots IAS passing FL320. At this moment, the crew was experiencing severe turbulence and heard a double 'bang'.   6. hopefully this is one instructor now jobless, that was an awful example of a forced landing he had loads of choice and cocked it up. and what was he doing pumping the throttle like that ? he did not make sure their belts were extra tight, he didnt shut off the fuel, cut off the mags, no flaps, , very poor show indeed.

  7. I think they thought they were rushing...at least in comparison to the cavalry below. Nice looker...also I am so happy that now that you fly FSX, there is good chance I can find these oldies but lovlies you post...for my own hangar.
