EDIT: The upgrade is still on the cards folks, the forums could be off line from early as tonight 14th April 2016. Deal All, I have to upgrade our forums to the latest version in order to continue receiving support and updates from the developers. Support for this version runs out in a few months time so if we suffered a catastrophic problem then it would be bye bye MH Forums This is a huge task and not without risks so I have set aside a long weekend to carry out the upgrade. Therefore, the forum will probably be off line from the 30th of April until the 3rd of May 2016.

Hi, Richard, and a warm welcome to the forum! Wow, I suspect you're going to get a lot of different opinions on this question! Anyway, FWIW here's my 2ȼ, but bear in mind that I moved straight to FSX (from FS9) as soon as it was released, hence have been using it for getting on for ten years now.... I have admired P3D from afar, but TBH the only significant change that I notice onscreen is the presence of cloud shadows (and from 40,000 ft they are not too important to me, although if you mostly vly low 'n slow I can well imagine that they could be a factor).
