  1. Good day MH'ers, The following link copied from a Canadian newspaper, The Globe and Mail. FYI http://www.theglobeandmail.com/technology/tech-news/us-tells-all-internet-users-to-disable-java-over-hacker-threat/article7234545/ Cheers, March
  2. Thank you, Joe, I'm sorry for the extra workload. Despite the crazy formatting, the original skin is far better than the one for mobile devices. Cheers, March
  3. Oh, woe is me...... I can see the box at the bottom of this page "Full Version", but it's sort of greyed out and when I tap it, nothing happens. The 4 boxes in the upper right hand corner (arranged in a 2x2 matrix) bring up a menu with sign out button and six choices below. Such as: Messenger, Notifications, New Content, Status Updates, Search, and Mark as Read. That's it. There doesn't seem to be any way to get at the settings ( or even my profile) to make whatever changes I need to get back Not Cheerful, March Soon to be kicked out of this boarding lounge and onto another bus. I was su
  4. Now I've really screwed the pooch (apologies to Mutley). I found the mobile skin choice at the bottom of the settings page. Tapped on it and got what I asked for. The original was far better. Now, I'm having the devil's own time trying to get back. Not so Cheery, March
  5. @Joe, We must have been typing at the same time. When I hit the Post button your message loaded ahead of mine. I'm not concerned that the forum is at fault - never crossed my mind. I know the iPad is the problem. I'm just looking for solutions. I'll go looking for the MH Mobile Skin. That might be the whole problem if I'm not using the correct skin in the first place. Cheers, March
  6. I hear you John. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with this Crapple and I'm trying to make the best of it. I'll take a look at the app Mikael suggested, above. It is only a problem when I travel. But, I travel a lot. One of the problems with " no fixed address". Thanks for the info, anyway, maybe Santa Clause will be good to me next year and stop by the Samsung Store. Cheers, March
  7. Thanks Kieren, Don't see many on the briny, but I love travelling on them. We'll be in Europe next fall, so looking forward to some serious train travel.. Cheers, March
  8. I could have included Wide as in Wide Load. All this eating and drinking isn't doing my boyish profile any good.
  9. First, I should explain that I have been trying to stay in touch, including here on MH by using an iPad while travelling. My best comment is that this is difficult for someone not indoctrinated into the Apple way of doing things That said, I get pop-ups advertising an app called Tapatalk. This pop up appears in a lot of cases when I load a forum ( eg: Avsim). It does not pop up when loading MH, so I suspect it is something the individual forum management must choose to include. I mention this in the hope that there will be a dialogue forthcoming from knowledgeable individuals on the pros and
  10. Thanks John, WIDE as in WAN, not Wide Screen. Not much needed for a single-station FSX install. The price is approx $30, so better not purchased unless needed ( there is a deal on the table to buy both packages at the same time for €18 each ). I've spent a fair hour or so researching FSUIPC, especially the control programming specifics for the joystick. You may recall a previous conversation that we had about the imprecision that I experience with POV via the hat switch. There are some recommendations that are not available due to files mentioned not being (currently) available on the Intern
  11. Oops! Not so fast there, March. I found this page: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html It gives FSUIPC4 4.853 as the most recent version for FSX and remarks that a second (included on the d/l page) piece of software, called WideFS 6.897 should be downloaded and installed at the same time. Is this a software developer requirement or simply something that us mere mortal FSX'ers might want to have? I use a widescreen monitor for FSX display. Care to comment, John? Cheers, March
  12. I've been blissfully unaware of this feature in the paid version of FSUIPC. I have the free version installed. Thank you, again, John, for another piece of FS wisdom. I'd pretty much given up trying to find this solution. I never did find a way to have FSX do this for me. My FSX sub-directory contains several files where I tried different assignments, then saved them to unique file names. Files such as noflaps.xxx and hiperf.xxx. Loading them did absolutely nothing. FSX stubbornly retains the last set of assignments. I fly aircraft from the 737NG to Piper Cubs and all require a preferred s
  13. Judging by the news photo, it looks like they must have jacked it up and pushed it off the runway on its own (down and, presumably, locked) gear. I don't know a lot about Spitties, but most a/c of that vintage had a locking mechanism on the mains with indicators in the cockpit. See the DC-3. Down was one thing. Locked was the other. Cheers, March
  14. I think the Manchester became the Lancaster
  15. This post edited Further info, John. VTBT appears to be little used these days. Mostly by the discount airlines? It is now called the "old" int'l airport versus the "new" one that we flew in to. I'll hazard a guess that VTBS (New) doesn't exist in FSX. However, I've no way to check. Sorry for the mix-up. You didn't miss anything, John. We were never planning on coming here. The flight arrangements from Chaing Mai to Penang were way cheaper going through Bangkok so we made the decision to re-route. Flying around here is so cheap that we don't make bookings until the last minute. For in
  16. Monday January 7, 2013 Equipment: Airbus A300-600, Reg. HS-TAW, Thai Air, Gate 7, VTCC, Chaing Mai to Gate B3, VTBS, Bangkok The route for today's flight can be found here: http://skyvector.com...T.BKK:A.VT.VTBS 322NM - 41 minutes at a planned 470Kt cruise Destination Airport - VTBS Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi Int'l Pushback and engine start at 1129 Local for an advertised 1130 departure. Pushback required turning the tail to port for a southerly heading. To follow the taxi route, check out John Allard's airport chart of VTCC at: http://forum.mutleys...w-tour-of-asia/ Taxi commenced at 113
  17. Great pics of a great flight, Kasper, I'm impressed you got around to line up on that runway. That must have been a steep turn. Alaska is a tough place to fly. Cheers, March
  18. This is a teaser. Guess where I am now. Details follow. Cheers, March
  19. Well done Alan, Swiss target tug. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%2BW_C-3605 Man, that must have taken a lot of searching. Here's the original: Not from Wikipedia. Now I'm off the hook - over to Alan............. Cheers, March
  20. Gosh John, I missed your comment to Dizzy. See the previous post: John, No not a beech, YES, MILITARY Another hint: definitely a tail-dragger Produced 1971 - 1973 It's time for another chunk of the photo. Let me change computers so I can add a photo to a post. Darn Crapple! I'll be back in a few and edit this post. After a few (beers), here's the edit...... Cheers, March
  21. Way too big for an Ercoupe, sorry Dizzy. Keep at it! Cheers, March
  22. Always an issue: most A/C load in pounds and the fuel truck (over here, anyway) always wants to sell the stuff in gallons or litres. There's another conversion you want to make sure you get right. If I'm not mistaken there was an Air Canada flight that ran afoul of the litre/gallon thing a ways back. I think the pilots dead-sticked into a prairie airport. Cheers, March PS: RoT for USG to Litres - USG X 4 = L ( actual is about 3.87, or something like that, but 4 has always worked for me)
  23. Thanks for the Pirep, Jess, That was a long 2 days. The beautiful sunrise was a reward. Appreciated by all. Have maintenance take a close look at Lenore's brakes and tires ('tyres) before your next flight. Cheers, March
  24. Sorry to take so long to get answers out. I'm completely off the plot with you guys time-wise. John: No, not a Beech, Yes, military Brett: Sorry, not the Monospar Alan: No, not Herr Messerschmitt Dizzy: No, not Lockheed And here I thought this was too easy. Cheers, March
  25. Does anyone have any idea how they're asking for one of these things (say, in C172 set-up)? If not I'll go to the manufacturer. You know how it is, though: the manufacturer is probably going to go all out with 1000 questions and all I want is ballpark numbers. My brother and I are thinking of setting up a serious "toy rental" or sort of a co-op toys for big boys in Vancouver. Very much in the business plan stage. We're actively researching toys at this stage. Cheers, March
