  2. Oddly enough my friend was on duty when the Hurricane crashed a few years earlier. Again he was one of the first on scene. On that occasion the pilot tried to put the aircraft down on one of the emergency landing sites only to realise that a group of people had come through the gate in spite of no entry signs and were having a picnic in the middle of it! He apparently stuffed the aircraft nose first into the ground and the aircraft blew up. The emergency team managed to salvage the pilots lower legs from the scene as they were only bits that hadn't burned.
  3. We were on the beach at Bognor waiting for the Vulcan to come along the coast from Bournemouth on the same day. We saw her come over, then circle round and move to Shoreham where she could be seen doing a slow flyby before returning towards us with a Spitfire flying in echelon. It was at that point my mate phoned me and told me about the crash. we could see the smoke from the beach. I went along there a day later and was shown the makeshift exit they'd had to clear for the cars to get through the south access tunnel, however the big RV's etc couldn't fit through it and were stuck there, as w
  4. Smart looking ship! I like it.
  5. Sweet, The Canadair Sabre was also flown by the RAF and the Luftwaffe in the 50s. It had different systems and engine from the American built version.
  6. Lovely stuff, The F-8 was one very impressive aircraft. Nice to see a French one in the mix. Great colours on the VF-84 aircraft.
  7. Love it! Great little jet. Nicely caught.
  8. Great pics, Love Shoreham Airport. Very historic, in fact the oldest Civil airport in Britain. A friend of mine is part of the crash team when the airshows take place. He was s one of the first on scene when the Hunter went down.
  9. This small Russian trijet was the spiritual successor to the Lisunov LI-2( the unlicensed copy of the DC-3). It was designed to operate into small unpaved airstrips and carry up to 30 passengers. it was very successful and was used extensively within the Soviet field of influence. It also holds the distinction in the UK of being the only jet aircraft ever to have operated the now closed Portsmouth Airport with it's short grass runways. This one is in the colours of CSAm Czechoslovakian Airlines. The kit is an old VEB item with a/m decals by Revaro. Thanks for viewing Seen alo
  10. The IL-62 is the Soviet equivalent of the British Vickers VC-10 . However it is slightly larger than the VC-10 and unlike the VC-10 is still in service in small numbers. This is an old VEB kit with decals by Revaro. It is 1/100 scale which translates into a big model for airliner kits! The kit in the box is a somewhat crude affair (compared to many more modern kits) based on the design of the prototype. The shaping is all correct and it just needed certain details adding to bring it up the the standard I required. Cubana of course is the national airline of Cuba. Thanks for viewing.
  11. From one of my favourite ever movies comes my favourite Jet Fighter, The Grumman F9F Panther. This particular aircraft is actually seen in the film, albeit briefly. This one is in 1/48 scale. Thanks for viewing.
  12. Been building a lot of models just lately, many of them 1/48 scale primarily because they are easier to see what I'm doing! Also they also capture more attention at Shows than smaller scales This one is a Meteor Mk1 of 616 Sqn RAF. The Mk1s were only in service for less than 2 years before being superseded by the more capable and even more powerful Mk III. However the Mk1 remains Britains first Jet fighter to enter service. Thanks for viewing.
  13. Lovely captures, I have a particular affinity for the Skyraider and have quite a few of them in my model collection including a 1/48 scale AEW Mk 1. They were tough aircraft and could punch well above their weight. Skyraider AEW Mk1 Royal Navy. 1/48 scale
  14. Great captures of a lovely aircraft. The Banshee was the successor to the earlier F1 Phantom.
