Track and fly real time flights
dodgy-alan replied to Eytan's topic in Members General & Announcements
Be careful with what you advertise Eytan, mentioning Drones and Airports in the same sentence over here will have you on the various authorities watch list, especially after recent events at Gatwick and Heathrow. Whilst we all know it's legit, the Police and CAA are very twitchy right now. If there are trigger words that pop up together they get interested. One of our best friends is a Cop at Gatwick and we were discussing this very recently. Good luck with your project. -
The Republic XF-91 Thunderceptor was based around the design of the F-84F Thunderstreak but incorporated a battery of rockets in the tail mounted above and below the main jet pipe. It's most radical feature was the Inverse taper and chord of the main wing which also had variable incidence. This resulted in the main undercarriage having an unusual configuration as well. The first prototype made its first flight on 9 May 1949, breaking the speed of sound in December 1951. It was later modified with a small radome for gunnery ranging (although not the "full" radome of the second prototype).

Great pics, we occasionally see these at Goodwood, they make one hell of a noise!

Me too, saw all sorts of things then, just realised I should have dropped this post into real World Aviation rather than General. No idea how to move it though.

One of my closest friends was on the crash crew and he was one of the first on scene. He told me that it was not a pretty sight, especially the ghouls who were stopping to take photos of people burning alive in their cars! ( I was on the airfield with my friend the following day and it was a right mess.) Some of those killed had been moved on by police repeatedly from a huge sign that said "No Waiting, Low Flying Aircraft!" Indeed some had even climbed onto the top of the notice! Had they obeyed the police they would not have died! The aircraft took the signpost out! There is one train of thou

Glad you got things sorted out, it can happen to the best of them. Tiredness and bad weather can be a bastard whether you're flying a plane, navigating a ship or driving a vehicle. Just glad you didn't actually land on the house! Many years ago a BOAC VC-10 came within a few metres of landing on the A4 Bath Road which runs alongside the north boundary of Heathrow. They had popped out of low clouds at night and mistook the lights of a major trunk road for the runway lights! Luckily they pulled up in time but it scared the crap out of the locals! We all learn by our mistakes no matter what.

Awesome, watching a storm at sea can be both amazing and terrifying at the same time. especially when you get a line squall and the radar can't see through it! Or the dark shadow you can see on the horizon is actually a 50ft tidal wave heading straight towards the ship!
