I think there is a common bond between nations when these terrible circumstances occur and especially among seafarers. Against a time factor and the thought of the submariners facing a prolonged death sentence then who would not offer assistance. Unfortunately time has run out for the crew of the sub but the search for wreckage will continue. As you say John, a sad story.

Mindful of the police breathalysing drivers at this time of year, after a few too many in the pub I decided to leave the car and take a bus home. Sure enough the police were stopping cars for drink drive tests but waved the bus through and I got home safe and sound. What surprised me was I'd never driven a bus before and I've no idea where I got it from.
