rosariomanzo 545
LEG 21: Olbia Costa Smeralda, LIEO - Foligno, LIAF Route: BATOX L5 VALMA L865 GITOD/N0220F145 VFR Allowed altitude:FL100 to FL180 Inclusive Notes: file a Y flightplan A nice leg today, with a flight that will start IFR and will end VFR. Weather is nice at destination and we should have no surprises. We are only a bit worried by the strong winds. Engine 2 started: Taking off against a strong 25 kts headwind: Climbing through the SID to BATOX: Cruising at FL180 inbound TAQ VOR, we have a nasty 89 kts crosswind: Descending to 14.500' VFR flight level, we have Bolsena Lake below. So many holidays spent there! Winds are calm in Foligno, joining a left traffic pattern: Turning to final: This was an important military airfield during WWII, now it's mainly used by gliders. Forgot to mention that LIAF is not a default FSX airport, so I had to design it myself from scratch. Not an hard task, anyway. I've managed to precisely put the main elements on the airfield, updated to the last AIP charts. With some spare time I'll add more clutter to this nice little airport. I really enjoyed this one, love the mixed flightplan. Thanks for watching, see you next flight!
rosariomanzo 545
LEG 22: Foligno, LIAF - Napoli Capodichino, LIRNRoute: DCT GITOD/N0250F170 IFR Y106 TIBER L995 AKAMOAllowed altitude:FL115 to FL175 InclusiveNotes: FILE A Z FLIGHT PLAN /// AT GITOD ANY ODD LEVEL FROM FL110 TO FL190 INCLUSIVE A zulu flightplan, first VFR then IFR, to get back home. Time for another aircraft change. Looks like the issue I have with this aircrat (engine quitting when a tank goes dry) does not happen when using models fitted with auxiliary tanks. So, it's time to go. Starting left engine: Leaving Foligno, then heading south-west VFR, climbing FL115: Over GITOD, turning left enroute IFR and climbing FL150: Some snaps at cruising altitude. Loving this model: We descend 7.000' following AKAMO 1A STAR, and soon we are established on the long localizer run to Naples, with Mount Vesuvius on our left: On ground, not one of my best landings so far, I have to get familiar again with this aircraft: Closing the office. I'll call a taxi to spend some time home with my family. Baba cake anyone? Thanks for watching, see you next flight!
