phil white 274
This is my first venture into the offering from Lockheed Martin and waited for it's release after having read about it. There are lots of nice aircraft in there with some from developers like Just Flight, Alabeo and Carenado and others too. The thing that attracted me most about this new version is that it was designed to take advantage of more up to date hardware which can only be a good thing. It is however not able to run with Direct X 9 or 10 which is a shame for people with not so old hardware. I have a low to medium range card, the EVGA GTX660 Superclocked 3gb model and this runs it well with mid range graphics settings. and will be posting a video soon of this new version. As for FSX add ons that work, so far I have installed Aerosoft Airbus X, the default MS Cessna 172 and UK 2000 Manchester Airport and Fly Tampa Dubai. The installers for these do not see this new version so I just copied folders from FSX to P3D and they just worked.
mutley 4,498
Hi Phil, Thanks for the update, I am sure the new installers will trickle though. Of course you can fool the system into installing P3D to install P3Dv2 but it's only a kludge an some files need updating befor installing. I tried porting the new Twin Otter across but some of the textures are making P3Dv2 crash, I guess we just have to be patient. Joe

Joe I think the latest Twin Otter is V2 compatible as I think I have read this on the Aerosoft forum.
Jess-b 420
Yup, I have the twotter installed in p3d v2. You have to download a new build from aerosoft for the installer though. Other than that, there's a problem switching from full screen to window mode. It'll cause the asd.dll to crash. Switching to an external view solves this. Other than that, it's now a waiting fame for fresh installers.

Kevin Firth 114
Thanks guys I haven't tried any payware a/c in P3D2 yet, only scenery... I've got GenX, UK2000, Shawbury fields and Isle of Man working great in P3D2. Will try the Twotter later this week
allardjd 1,853
I noticed this posted in the AirHauler forum at Just Flight... Evening Cargo Guys, Well after a week of trying out the new Prepar3D V2, I must admit it will be difficult to want to go back to FSX. Does anyone know if AH will work with the new P3D? If so, what must I do to make it compatible and will I lose my company in the process. If not, is there plans to make it compatible? If you have no tried out P3D V2, go do it. It clearly is the replacement we have been waiting for. Excellent product, excellent support, you will not be dissapointed. John

allardjd 1,853
From Slopey: AH is not officially compatible with P3D v1 or v2. You may get it to work with FSUIPC however, but it's not supported. AH2 will support P3D 1 & 2. John

britfrog 180
personally I dont think i will bother with this version just yet. As I see it the biggest advance is that it works with dx11 which is great, only none of the fsx after market stuff has been written to take advantage of that up till now. I note that rex 4 will take this onboard but that is the only product that has currently been announced. So we shall have to wait at least 6 months for prep3d to have something that is finally superior to fsx. There is no doubt that they are finally going in the right direction but if version 3 introduces 64 bit what do the devs do now? do they make something now that enhances the graphics then start work on a 64 bit version , or wait for that to arrive and create something that enhances the 2 advances. I feel that LM should release a road map and timetable of where they are going so devs and clients alike can make a decision as to when they finally make the jump and at what level.. Please feel free to correct me but version 2 is visually the same as fsx but at least fsx you can start at a gate or wherever you want with LM it is the end of a runway which seems weird if you like to start in a dark and cold cockpit.
