Dungerness, just along the coast from me, is a unique place in the UK. It is the largest area of shingle in Europe and is a conservation area due to the variety of fauna and flora, some unique to the area. Due to its remote location there are military establishments, with firing ranges there and a nuclear power station.

A couple of years ago I was working there and driving back to Hastings in the autumn twilight was rather surreal. If you are ever in the area it is well worth a visit.
