You have a talent for AC damage, reef. It has the look of having been there a while though. Thoroughly believeable and could pass for a real photo. Nice work!

How long does something like that take you?

Thanks John, appreciate your input. Timewise about 3-4 hours mainly due to the reflection being a completely different image due to the different angle. As such its like working on two images and when done making it look wet.

Thanks...

I just can't believe it is not real!

As John says, it looks like it has been there for some while well and truly beaten up. I Like the glint on the canopy.

The water reflection has to be the best I have ever seen. Even the reflection of the underside of the wing is the right colour, that must have taken a lot of planning to do.

Well done Steve :good

Cheers

I have been staring at this image for about 5 minutes now, and i cant believe how good it is.

It really is absolutely beautiful.

The reflection is just perfect, the canopy, the beach, the damage, everything!

10/10 without any shadow of a doubt.

Possibly the best ever composite shot i have seen.

Thanks Panos and Simi, glad you liked it  As for the photo-ness of it (is that even a word??) One of the mistakes i made gives it away in a big way, i forgot to give the Japanese Ki any markings :poster_oops: Its actually a default skin from IL-2. Another mistake is a forgot to put a prop on the Corsair :doh

Thanks for looking...

  • 2 weeks later...

reef,

The quote below is lifted from an e-mail I received from a friend who lurks here, but is not a member. I thought you'd like to see it...

I see new things the more I look at it. If the canopy shadow at the wing root was manually done (and I'm assuming it was) it is perfect.

John

That Zero on the beach is a remarkable piece of work . . .and that is really an understatement if ever there is one. That might well be the most amazing work of art that I have ever seen . . . EVER. . . . it pulls you in and just totally mesmerizes you. It's so easy to put yourself in that scene and what it says could fill volumes and volumes of the written word. To me, that is what art is suppose to do . . . . and he has sure done it with that one . . . . absolutely amazing.

Cheers Dave, appreciate your comment. Well John, i may have just been dragged out of bed way too early by my 3 year old girl but you have certainly just made my day posting this  A big thanks to your friend for taking the effort to write such kind words and hearing such comments about one of my edits certainly spurs me on to do more. As for the canopy shadow on the wing, yes its manually done as IL-2 aircraft dont have self shadowing.

Thanks again..

steve
