wain 879
I have been looking at getting this. Remember reading a post from Loic saying how it works really well. Two questions though. 1 on my yoke there are switches for trim do i have to delete them. 2 on one of my saitek panels there is a wheel do i need to delete that function as well. Any of you that may have the wheel can you let me know about your experiences please. Also not sure if I should order or see if there are any at Cosford.... Thanks Wayne
allardjd 1,853
I have it and it's great - well, made, good "feel", works fine. No, you don't have to delete other controls assigned to elevator trim - just plug it in and use it. You can either ignore the other controls or use them in conjunction with the wheel. wain 879
Thanks John, much appreciated.....I think I will see of there are any there next week, if not online it will be... Wayne
Captain Coffee 2,030
You can also reassign those switches if you wish... Maybe gear up gear down? Maybe flaps up flaps down?
needles 1,013
You could also reasign the saitek panel trim wheel to Rudder Trim.

stu7708 244
As the others I've found it a great piece of hardware. The only time I have issues with it is in the PMDG NGX where it refuses to work for some strange reason..
wain 879
Thanks Mikael, I will look on saturday to see if there are any about, if not I will order one next week....
mutley 4,498
Wayne, there will be one on my stand you can try. You may even get a good deal at the show, but do some homework on the prices before hand
wain 879
So I had a look on saturday then pucked one up fo £39...really makes a difference.. had the Cutlass trimmed and flying really well...even trimmed perfectly for the descent... makes it so much easier.. Ordered aTPM from Saitek on the way home from Cosford... that works fine too... All my Saitek gear working fine in P3d v3..havent tried the yoke yet though... Wayne
brett 2,315
Nothing like some new toys Wayne, best of luck with them. Does the trim wheel give you finer trim tab control or is it just easier to use.
allardjd 1,853
In my opinion, it does give finer control, partially because it's such a large diameter wheel. Nudge the periphery an eighth of an inch and the angular displacement of the pot (or rotary encoder - I don't know which it uses) is pretty tiny. It also feels much more like the "real deal" for those who've had some real world cockpit time. John
wain 879
Brett I agree with John it gives much better and finer control....great bit of kit..... Wayne
brett 2,315
I really need to think about setting myself up with a nice cockpit setup, you guys are having too much fun.
Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
As regards the trim wheel not working with the PMDG NGX and 777, this has long been an irritating problem. But recently I came across a couple of videos from someone who claims to have got Saitek panels working using a combination of SPAD and LINDA (and LINDA requires Lua support from a registered copy of FSUIPC, see http://www.mutleyshangar.com/reviews/bc/linda/linda.htm). I haven't tried the suggested technique, so I'm afraid I have no idea whether it works, but FWIW here are the links: NGX+Saitek video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUetVP7cSL8 777+Saitek video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQcP-ZIyXkc&feature=youtu.be Good luck!
