Thanks for sharing. The plane and ground look good, but the sky looks even worse than default FSX... :)  If the files structure is alike, it shouldn't be too difficult to import some clouds textures.

Hmm.. I wonder if it supports TrackIR yet..  Must start downloading it soon I guess, but that's going to take it's sweet time on my connection...

As Loic said, it looks great if one avoids looking to closely on the coulds...

Yeah the Pan thing was my error all works fine..looks ok clouds seem to be a step backwards... ATC sounds very robotic... as bad as FSX ATC was at least it sounded ok...lessons are similar if not the same and seem to be a bit more forgiving...bare in mind this is with no addons so fps etc will be high however it was using nearly 2gig of vram but my ageing CPU was now not working quite so hard...only had a few hours on it so only initial views..I think this is aimed at new blood and I expect to see it on a weekend sale relatively quickly..my main concern for the new full is that they dumb things down for the new people they want...DTG will probably be looking to sale high numbers...its good that it is 64bit and DX11 and I imagine once the real sim comes out and addons are available we could have a good sim...saying that though if LM suddenly announced 64bit I know where most would go...downside for us will be having to stump up for addons again but you never know we could get upgrade prices...

Thanks for the reports Wayne, I've found flight school is a nice diversion and great for beginners, but I soon got bored with it and had to get back to Air Hauler!

Interestingly, the clouds in the preview shots Joe posted earlier doesn't look as bad..

I wonder if it's the textures for a specific cloud type that are lacking in quality rather than them being generally bad.

Agree with you there Joe back to testing..I am glad I got it however I dont feel FSX/P3D have any immediate concerns...

Looks good, though the toolbars top and bottom are a distraction. Is there no way to turn them off like you can with FSX/FS9 etc?

I assume it's possible to run it in full screen mode if one wants to, and don't have something else running on a second monitor that one needs to/wants to see. And even if that's not possible the bottom one is possible to get rid of by "Auto Hiding" the start menu in windows...

Yep, full screen mode can be activated in the same way as in FSX - CTRL+ENTER

Did a quick test at work, and considering the specs of my computer here it looked OK, but the GFX card isn't really up to scratch... and neither are my skills at flying with only keyboard controls ;)

cotton wool balls :)

I have seen plenty of people streaming this on Twitch and it does look good for the beginner - so for people thinking, what's flight sim all about, they can have a jump in at such a small price and then move on to something a bit meaty like FSX or XPlane.

I think for flight sim veterans they will (as joe rightly said) get bored very quickly.

Speaking to a fellow flight simmer today, he said they have made some mistakes on some of the missions, where it is impossible to achieve as if you do it one way it tells you, you should have done it another, then when you do it that way, it reverts back to the way you did it in the first place ;) If that at all made sense lol, please give it a whirl for your self hehe.

Great shots though and thanks for sharing - at least some companies are still trying :)

I saw a Froogle video review the day before it released. He found that the flight model was dumbed down for beginners. Things like adding power didn't raise the nose.
I hope stuff like that doesn't carry through to the biggy version...but suspect it is only to help The New transition into Flight Simming. Are there any "Realism" settings in DTG/FS that affect the flight model? Or is it stuck on Hard Arcade Mode? :D

I don't think Froogles right on the flight model. I just flew both Pipers and both reacted as expected when I applied power. The nose rose slowly before the aircraft returned to trim. More impressively I was able to get the Cherokee into a spin and applied the correct technique to get out it. Even the cub spun quite well. I tested both against fsx and the cub spun at least in the same manner as the one flight school.

That said, I bloody hate that atmospheric shading. It needs a lot of work.

On the Flight School forum it seems someone has managed to use Rex 4 textures by pointing the P3D location to the Flight School path and selecting DX11 textures. ( from a post on my french forum )
