CaptHill 0
Onwards with the challenge For this flight from Riyadh to Dubai I wanted to use an aircraft that I think is iconic and is indeed a true workhorse of the sky. GA lovers will even admit that this mighty aircraft deserves it's place in history.....it practically gave us the package holiday and that's why I have chosen the mighty 737 to take centre stage in this leg of our journey. Boeing themselves heard of our epic journey once more and supplied the aircraft for us. With another rotation the baton is again airborne, this time riding shot gun in the iconic colours of the house livery 737 - 500 provided by Boeing Our Standard Instrument departure takes us on a left turn out of Riyadh.....and it's chuffing hot out there! Climbing through the haze Heading up to our cruise altitude Settiling down on the flight deck for a shortish cruise over to Doha initally and then turning over to Dubai. Now I've been to Doha and I can tell you I have never felt such a surpressive heat....at this stage of our flight we're just crossing the small strtch of water between Doha and Dubai. The water is like glass from up here, but at this stage is a bit blocked out by some heavy cloud cover Time to put the shades on I think For our descent the cloud has gone and the fuselage and water glisen in the sun Dubai is right on the coast and is a large area of populated wealth surround by nothing.....you really get that impression from up here as we approach the coast Making our preperations for landing Cleared for landing runway 30L Touchdown! On stand, I'm sure you'll agree the 737 took this leg in it's stride. Rich Hill

Aircraft Aviation 2
what is the PIA aircraft in the last shot? Kind of looks like a shortened A300, but not an A320. Possibly an A310?

mutley 4,498
:atwc: Super post Rich, great commentary and a real dreamy quality to the shots. Thanks for getting the baton safely to Dubai, there's a celebratory drink waiting in my place in down-town Dubai, but don't let the authorities know Please pass the baton over to Sam, he's the one in the captains uniform that people say he looks a bit like Simon Cowell (Can you spare a me tenner Simon... er Sam?! ) and he's raring to go to Iran. Cheers
