ehunyadi 0
Greetings! As I'm settling back into things and flying more, I'm interested in hearing/reading what your favorite must-have add-ons are. Almost all of my payware stuff is for FS9, but I've since moved on to FSX and I am looking to enhance my simming experience. I did read a list of add-ons that John uses, but I can't seem to find that post now (since he's so prolific and posts all over the place... ) To date, I have: FSX REX2 AirHauler FSPassengers X Cargo Pilot PMDG Beechcraft 1900C FSWidgets GMap for Android Pretty sparse. Everything else I have no longer works for FSX (or I have to repurchase) so before I spend any more money, I'd like to hear what you chaps are using.
stu7708 244
For scenery I can strongly recommend anything from FTX/ORBX. And REX2 gives you sky, cloud and water textures that are as close to real as you can get in my opinion. Plus it also enhances the runway and taxiway textures and adds better markings. OK... this is one I have never heard of before, and I just bought it. It's going to take a while to download, but sometime tomorrow, I will be using REX2 as well! Thanks for the tip on this one. It looks amazing (I can't wait to see it in my sim!).
rob16584 42
REX2 Active Sky ORBX Products A2A Cub with Accusim Air Hauler Carenado GA Range Most of these have reviews here on Mutleys if you want to read about them first
Aidan 1
REX2.. hands down, if you get one addon for FS - make it that.

After a while I realized I was bobbing my head around trying to dodge the clouds as I flew towards them
allardjd 1,853
I'm still using FS9, so my list is probably not going to be much help, but here it is anyway. Much of this does work for FSX too. Must Have - - - - - - - - Radar Contact Active Sky AirHauler CS C-130 Any AC you like from Carenado TrackIR5 Any payware Traffic program (I use JF's Traffic 2005/Traffic with all four PlusPaks) Terrain mesh enhacement (I use FS Genesis 19m wherever it's available) Ultimate Terrain (Flight1 - US and Europe) VAC (Voice Actuated Commands - only $18 - very powerful, works very well) Some kind of flight planner (I still use FS Navigator but am trying to get up close and personal with FS Commander 9) PDF Kneeboard (freeware) SALS Gauge (Satellite Assisted Landing System - freeware gauge - puts a GPS based localizer and glideslope on any runway in FS) HeliTraffic 2009 (Flight1 - makes them behave like helicopters) AFCAD/ADE9X/AFX (Airport editors free/free/pay)
MartinW 0
MartinW has for FSX... REX2 Overdrive - Wouldn't fly without it. UTX Europe and GEX Europe - Work great together. Again wouldn't fly without them. ASE - although tend to use REX weather mostly. Registered FSUIPC - Essential for wind smoothing. Flight1 Mustang – Superb but demanding on performance. http://mutleyshangar.com/features/martw/510vlj.htm Flight1 PC-12 CS 757 PMDG MD-11 – superb rendition of an aircraft that was surprisingly advanced for it’s time. http://mutleyshangar.com/features/martw/md11.htm CS/JF C-130 http://www.mutleyshangar.com/features/martw/c130.htm
Tim_A 997
In no particular order: Plan-G to know where I'm going Absolutely any RealAir aircraft Horizon photo scenery for UK Earth Simulations scenery for the detailed twiddly bits Orbx scenery for US/Oz Whatever scenery I can get for anywhere else Carenado aircraft (competent, but get a bit samey after a while) Rex2 Overdrive Active Sky (for Weather - still the best) TripleHead2Go for wiiiiidescreen TrackIR5 to go where you're looking Flight Illusion for some gorgeous if pricey hardware instruments
David TRIGGS 0
Bonjour, I agree ... all ORBX scenery packages for USA-CANADA for the best "enhanced scenery" ... and don't forget to buy all their local airport scenery add-ons! For the best "photographic scenery" I heartily recommend Flylogic Switzerland X professional. My list:- ... FSIUPC ... Just Flight TRAFFIC X ... (to hear some real airlines on your radio / see some real airlines at your airports) ... Orbx USA-CANADA scenery ... (great VFR & large areas with little frame-rate hit) ... Flight1 AUDIO ENVIRONMENT ... (proper engine sounds for your aircraft AND AI) ... Flylogic SWITZERLAND PRO scenery ... (unbeatable VFR, and so beautifull!!) ... Orbx USA-CANADA airfield enhancements ... (but get their "BOB" software, so that you can walkabout admiring their detail) ... Flylogic SWITZERLAND airfield enhancements ... (to go with their photo-scenery ... lovely little airfields!!) David
stu7708 244
Forgot about one add-on, and the best part is that it's freeware. The Netherlands NL2000 photoreal covereage of the whole of the netherlands. Reviewed here.

GabethePilot 1
Some good suggestions there, but ultimately it must depend on the power of your PC and some of them are gonna need a decent rig ( !!!!! ). Try out these 2 from Realair, especially good for buzzing around FTX Australia etc. The Realair SF260 - as good FPS as default planes, but still one of the best GA ever made. If you have a modest but "decent" system (Core 2 Quad minimum), get the Duke B60 - phenomenal ! End of. An alternative - and slightly better performer twin, is the older - yet gorgeous imo - DA Cheyenne. Again, great for FTX flying. ALL the above, also work well with the Reality XP 530W GPS. The Duke has a configuator that automatically installs it into the VC as well. The Reality XP 530/430W, actually runs as well (FPS-wise) as the default GNS 500, altohugh it has taken a while to get it this good. It is also essential flying around Australia as it only has NDBs around 90& of the place ! If I could only have 4 addons, I'd get an FTX region, one of the RealAir GAs (above), the Reality XP 530W, and REX v2 textures. As for complex airliners, if your system is less than sparkling (say a Core 2 Quad only), the best performing (FPS) 'complex' airliner-type a/c are the: Simcheck Airbus A300 A2A Stratocruiser with Accusim Feelthere EJets Volume 2 (175/195) Coolsky Super 80 Classic or Pro PMDG MD-11 or BAe Twin Prop thingy (!) Any others, are likely to cause problems and require serious compromises in the scenery/ weather and Ai traffic department. For example, one of the best addons for FSX, is the Flight1 'Mustang' jet. But, my advcice is not to go near it without at least an i7 clocked to 4GHz.

David TRIGGS 0
Hello, Can anyone tell me what possible interest there can be in using "TrackIR" ...... ?!?! David
needles 1,013
Hi David, TrackIR adds a whole new dimension to flight simming as it affords you the luxury of looking around without using the keyboard or any keys on your joystick/yoke. I use TrackIR5 and find it extremely immersing and you can even zoom in and out of you panel just by moving your head closer/further from the screen. Get it! That's my advice/opinion. Have a good day, Regards Brian :001_th_smiles89:
Sabre 28
Hello, Can anyone tell me what possible interest there can be in using "TrackIR" ...... ?!?! David Track IR simply takes the immersion factor to a whole new level, rather than try and explain see YouTube clips. And here it is in a slightly different simulator I use it for FSX and ARMA II and it’s superb IMHO
