reef 3
Hey guys, Enjoyed a flight this evening so thought id share a few shots and a very short video of my landing. The shots are lightly edited (no masterpieces here) The A/C is a POSKY 737-800 of KLM. We depart Amsterdam Schiphol heading for Humberside UK. Boarding. Rolling out to 24. About to put my gear away. Leaving Schiphol behind. The Dutch coast. And the North Sea. And heres the landing with a 12knt Crosswind. I kind of shoot long but plenty of room to stop. I always approach high [:I] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TM5tZmd4aM I'll ease off on the posts now, seems mine are leaving little room for others. Thanks for looking. steve
mutley 4,495
Steve, Don't worry about posting too much, wait 'til I get back up to speed again! It would be difficult to match these for sheer quality though, well done and thanks for posting again. As for the video, I really like the hand held video feeling, very nice! The sudden music on the landings nearly knocked me off my chair as my volume was quite loud. (Now where are my pills :mrhappy: ) Cheers
reef 3
Ah sorry mutley, I'm guessing you played the quiet intro to the tune at a normal volume only to be blown away by the bit thats actually loud :mrhappy: Glad you enjoyed what you saw. steve
dgor 0
Brilliant shots and video Reef, loved the first shot especially - it gives a really busy feel. Thanks for posting! :-)
B77W 0
Stunning Shots and Landing alike. Maybe slightly too high on APP... :mrhappy:
reef 3
Thanks chaps. It certainly does have a busy feel and more so than some other payware. I don't know if you have used cloud 9 but they have a system of support vehicles around you when you shutdown. The best part is so do the AI! Get a few planes together and its very busy indeed. The airport is 50% also so only cost me £8, im thinking of adding KLAX also for £7. It certainly was a high approach smeagol, i never seem to get my descent rate right. What kind of rate is average for two red two white. steve
wisemanp 0
Spectacular shots! I couldn't get anywhere near that realistic with a real aircraft!
B77W 0
-750ft! :mrhappy: But if you est on the loc, it will decend with the glideslope!
allardjd 1,853
Reef, Glide slopes are normally 3 degrees, except approaches where there's something forcing an exception, e.g. terrain, other controlled airspace, etc. The rate of descent required to maintain that is, of course, directly related to ground speed - More headwind = slower descent rate required at any given airspeed. Many approach charts have a little table of time from IAP to threshold or MAP at various ground speeds. It makes the math easier. John
allardjd 1,853
Reef, This might be easier... e.g. at 135 knots GS, you need 716 fpm for a 3 degree glide slope
mutley 4,495
Oh, that's useful John, thanks :mrhappy:
mulletman 0
Fantastic shots as usual. So realistic, although a little faded in colour. Still - that only adds to the effect.
reef 3
Thanks guys. steve

ddavid 149
It's taken a long time, but we finally got the music - Carl Orff - Carmina Burana - O fortuna. :mrhappy: Excellent choice (like the Barber in Cork to Cardiff on Horizon a couple of month's ago). Thanks again. Cheers - Dai.
ChrisSk 0
Reef This is my first post and I'm using it to say WOW!! Is that FSX? Im just installing it now and hope my results are somewhere near yours. Can't believe how realistic it looks. My local airport is Humberside...is that scenery FSX stock or is it an add-on...and if so where can i get it please. Looking forward to more of your posts. Chris Sk
reef 3
Hi and welcome to mutleys forum What you were seeing was FS9 but edited shots. Sadly for you Humberside was done for FS9 by UK2000. I recomend you take a look at their stuff if you like the UK as they have some nice airports for FSX now. Hopefully Humberside will feature in his to do list as i know Leeds/Bradford is in there. Any other questions feel free to ask as there are some here who are way more knowledgeable than me. Thanks for the comment also steve
