J G 927
Ah mes enfants, I have it now. The mystery has unfolded, Oznog, I take your clues with a pinch of de salt, and mystery is a Roman for November.

Andrew Godden 943
Someone, can take it. I have my fair share in this thread. Cheers Andrew
Andrew Godden 943
OK. Alan's aircraft (with my cryptic clues in the parentheses) was the Dassault (assault) Mystere (French for mystery), IVN (a double advance on IIIM and the Toronto Stock Exchange code for Ivanhoe Mines). I will soon post the next challenge. Cheers Andrew

dodgy-alan 1,587
It is indeed the Mystere IVN. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=mystere+IVN+photos&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=e6nwU4yFAeGO7QbC1oCYAw&ved=0CB8QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=
Andrew Godden 943
OK. A little extra research...though I'm not sure it will keep you guessing for too long. Cheers Andrew
dodgy-alan 1,587
Didn't have to fish too hard for something to convey the awnser! Interesting aircraft though, mind you, if it had made as much smoke as their other products the enemy would have seen it f**king miles away!

Andrew Godden 943
Don't be conned because Alan is being fair. After all, it is said he could be the Fisher King. The project which led to this aircraft design had a lot of gusto.

J G 927
If you are still fishing for an aircraft in this contest, then look to Alan as he is king. He will no doubt convair the answer to you, as it is not as new as it looks!
Quickmarch 488
Quite a bird for 1959. However the Blackbird (1966) and the U2 (1955) were contemporaries, tasked for the same sort of mission.
Andrew Godden 943
OK, so I think everybody is on the game now with the Convair 'Kingfish', as correctly identified by Alan. Designed as a replacement to the Lockheed U-2, it ultimately lost out to Lockheed's A-12 design. Over to you Alan. Cheers Andrew

J G 927
If you took the Pullman train to Bristol I think you may catch the first of these at 7:20 pm every 24 hours. Scotland has its warrior brother at a village on the river Dee in Aberdeenshire.
