hurricanemk1c 195
Hi all! Well, after picking up the baton from Sam, it's time for some proper Russian action! Since this flight is to the home of the An-225, one half will be flown by it's little brother - the An-124. But before that, the crew need to get to Minsk to pick up the beasty. And that means a Yak-42! Looking at the suprisingly large Yak. Sharon is inside, welcoming the crew Engines are starting Flight plan showing - the ASI you will notice is not set, that'll bring problems later...... Pushing back Head on Preparing to back track a little bit for a Rwy 20 take-off And we have lift off! Climbing away Cloudy today -no views The autopilot isn't working, so we are on manual flying. It's going to be bumpy! Wing view Getting foggy again - gear down please! As you can see - no ADI either! Touchdown - no reversers here! Rolling out And finally parked PART 2 Now then, you are probably thinking that An-124 in the last shot is our next ride out. Well, I'm sorry to say it's not. This is going to be a blast from the past! Here at Minsk, they decided to park our aircraft way out on the grass. No problem! Yep - it's the same one that took the baton from Dublin to Leeds/Bradford all the way back in the first challenge! Time to close up Pushback and engine start Turning onto the apron The pit - very imposing! Now, can I make that turn? Yep! Turning a bit sharpish Lining up 31 Hear the roar! The aircraft lifts off Gear up Climbing solidly up on autopilot Passing traffic Clouds ahead Finally, Antonov is in sight. Time for a quick flypast methinks! Hard over Whilst flying along the side of the runway, we meet company traffic Final climb Gear down after that little scare! Establishing Nearly Touchdown! Passing the same company traffic Parallel taxiways! Parked up And that's it folks - over to you Sean! Kieran
Quickmarch 488
Really interesting shots of the Antonov, Kieran, I probably shouldn't have had that last beer, last night: In the shot "Passing Company Traffic", there appears to be an eastbound Antonov on the taxiway with a wesbound regional jet squaring off for ownership of the tarmac. In the subsequent shot "Parallel Taxiways" they seem to have sorted it out and the Regional is turning onto the runway with no evidence of tyre tracks on the paint. Quite a feat! Is this some sort of traffic software glitch that you high-time simmers just ignore? Cheers, March
Dizzy 0
Thats some great views. I think you can fit my airplane into the cargo hold of that An-
CSoul 182
Great shots. That bit about the 'big Yak' reminded me of a bit of stand-up comedy by Brian Regan; will try to find a link to it... Ah! got it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkot_vljBJU Wait for the bit about the 'dead Yak.' Although the dead Yak wouldn't be a problem in the An-124: could probably fit a couple of them in the bins.
rob16584 42
Well done Kieran, our first Multi-Leg!
stu7708 244
Great flight Kieran! And I have to agree with March that the SAS MD80 did manage some quite impressive taxiing to solve the conflict.. prehaps the Antonov opened up it's cargo hold to let it pass
ddavid 149
You sure swing that little plane around, Chuck! Edge of the seat stuff! Cheers - Dai.
Kasper 14
Great flights, I really like the shots from the Soviet time cockpits like the Yak. Everything is in Cyrillic!

hurricanemk1c 195
Thanks fellas! That SAS MD-80 did do some impressive taxiing - went straight through the -124! Forgot to turn on AI Smooth, but didn't want to loose the nice company shots! And that is funny CSoul!
allardjd 1,853
Good set of shots, Kieran. What of the adventures of Sharon? Was she busy polishing the silverware? John
hurricanemk1c 195
I'm not too sure what Sharon was doing - I couldn't find here once we'd touched down in the An-124!
