Leg 5 - Vilinus Int (EYVI) - Antonov UKKM

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Well, after picking up the baton from Sam, it's time for some proper Russian action! Since this flight is to the home of the An-225, one half will be flown by it's little brother - the An-124. But before that, the crew need to get to Minsk to pick up the beasty. And that means a Yak-42!

Looking at the suprisingly large Yak. Sharon is inside, welcoming the crew

The autopilot isn't working, so we are on manual flying. It's going to be bumpy!

PART 2

Now then, you are probably thinking that An-124 in the last shot is our next ride out. Well, I'm sorry to say it's not. This is going to be a blast from the past!

Here at Minsk, they decided to park our aircraft way out on the grass. No problem!

Yep - it's the same one that took the baton from Dublin to Leeds/Bradford all the way back in the first challenge! Time to close up

Really interesting shots of the Antonov, Kieran,

I probably shouldn't have had that last beer, last night: In the shot "Passing Company Traffic", there appears to be an eastbound Antonov on the taxiway with a wesbound regional jet squaring off for ownership of the tarmac. In the subsequent shot "Parallel Taxiways" they seem to have sorted it out and the Regional is turning onto the runway with no evidence of tyre tracks on the paint. Quite a feat! Is this some sort of traffic software glitch that you high-time simmers just ignore? ;)

Cheers,

March

Great flight Kieran!

And I have to agree with March that the SAS MD80 did manage some quite impressive taxiing to solve the conflict..

prehaps the Antonov opened up it's cargo hold to let it pass ;)
