  1. If you're going to do a lot of this, then you might want to invest in a piece of software called "FS Panel Studio" See: http://www.fspanelstudio.com/ You will only (really) be able to edit 2D panels, but that is usually all you're looking for. I also recommend you do a bit of research. An internet search string like "making new pop-up panels in MS FSX" (or some such) might yield a mess of information in this day and age. I'm writing this with no worries that I'm stepping on someone's literary toes. All of the copied and pasted stuff you'll see, below, is either my own text or copies of

  2. There is no better moment in Air Hauler than when you start a new business ! The two companies I have been running since last October are now operating almost on their own with 4 AI pilots each, and me doing a flight when I feel like it to boost the reputation (slowly...) I never intended to build up big and I don't fly heavy metal anyway. This time I make a jump in past memories... Between 1975 and 1980, one of my first jobs was operating a freight service by truck/sea - using a car ferry line - between France and the Channel Islands. Once or twice a week for business purposes, I woul

  5. very true Kevin; it will take some time for all these application and hardware to mature together but it’s a step that had to made before the new specs are considered as standard’s than utilized in applications if you graph the leap that’s been made in the past 10 years alone; its staggering to think what will be in two years from now

  6. Ray/Chris, all true, but to make the most of them we'll need to drive them at far higher resolutions that we are currently able to with existing hardware and software. I think we're talking the equivalent of 3x 4k screens and even the best GPU's out there right now can't do that at an acceptable fps. Even if they could, the pricepoint would be exhorbitant. I think we're going to have to wait a few years yet before we have those kind of visuals where they're affordable enough for the likes of me

  7. I know what you mean, I spent 35 years sailing and most of them as skipper or navigator on board other people's boats (incl 10 years in the south of France - Antibes - as skipper in a cruising and racing school). Never was fool enough to buy one ! Which reminds me : I think it was Edward Heath ( who owned several racing boats including the famous Morning Cloud ) who said something like : " If you want to know what boat racing feels like, you should put on your weatherproof equipment, stick yourself under a cold shower and shred banknotes "

  8. Chris B, So true, we are on the verge of a breakthrough in affordable large screen displays available for home use due to the OLED technology now becoming available. The pace that display technologies are moving is rapid, most of the plazma screen manufacturers have recently announced that they are ending production. I've worked on wrap around military flight sim & artillery trainer displays for many years - having affordable similar household systems will be amazing. Ray.

  9. The empennage and nose gear doors suggest Supermarine, something around the vintage of Scimitar or Swift, but it doesn't really match either of those; both are a bit beefier in the rear fuselage area. There's something parked behind it with a very expensive looking paint job that seems to have a very similar shaped empennage. I'm guessing our mystery plane was some kind of developmental prototype or test bed that supported the design of the one behind. Totally out of left field, the Russians love red for non-flight components, even more than others. I note red whe
