  3. Despite probabilities of strong winds, I decided for a short flight from Guernsey EGJB to Bristol EGGD as the new company needs some money and rep. We had 16 knots at take off, but aligned with the runway at EGJB, then had to climb to 7000 ft over the clouds for the cross Channel leg. Descending to 2500 ft as we close on Bristol. Only had a 6 knots crosswind at 45° from runway on landing, and clear visibility under 2000 ft.

  4. Just finished this beast, Aeritalia Viper. Following Spectrums replacement of the Angel Interceptors with the new White Falcon. It was decided to sell off the older aircraft albeit it without the Spectrum equipment fitted. Subsequently bought by Aeritalia they were refurbished for the Regia Aeronautica. New lift fans were fitted to the central fuselage and reactor jets fitted at 6 points around the airframe. the nose undercarriage was made a permanent down fixture by means of using a streamlined strut, the resulting weight gain in removing the retraction gear was essential to allow for the hea

  5. My father was a battle of Britain pilot who after the war was lucky enough to be seconded into BOAC and many years later he was still a pilot as I grew up. I always wanted to fly aeroplanes having had my first flight when I was only a couple of months old, so it was no surprise that I wanted to follow in my fathers footsteps. 9. The PC is back up and running properly now, I have just got to sort out my panels and all will be complete. There has been a slight delay in completing this repair job as it was interrupted by my 30th wedding anniversary! JG

  10. Yikes...some scary reads in there. Thanks for sharing. This quote stood out: "5 Wing Goose Bay maintains a crash list of almost 200 wrecked aircraft dating from as far in the past as the Second World War, and it has been said there are so many airplanes crashed in the neighbourhood that you can almost walk from one end of Labrador to the other on aluminium. 11. Avery impressive plane Al, however in reality it was a terribly unreliable plane that became the original widowmaker , i read a story once that some US general wanted to base them in the uk so sent 10 over to see how practical it was . only one or two actually arrived in the uk and were immediately recalled one or two of these vrash reports will make your hair stand on end http://www.air-and-space.com/b-36%20wrecks.htm
