  1. No. I didn't realise that AS16 is not put out by REX - maybe I should have Googled it, eh?. The link you sent took me to the dev's website and their reseller(s) like JF want $60 for the P3D version. As I already have REX Essentials + O/D, I felt this was a bit too steep just to have decent RW Wx at altitude. Remember, I was going in to this to use it with the PMDG 777 which I still have not purchased. You're right - the REX part of the equation is a smokin' deal.
  2. Thanks JA, I'll check it out right now.
  3. I see that Rex is offering some good discounts, extending through April 19. I have Rex Essentials + O/D, but I note @mutley comments about Texture Direct and I might take this opportunity to pick it up. The other part of the recommendation is to buy Active Sky 16 (not listed on the Rex site as being on sale). Question is: Is this advice still current? Or have things changed again? I note that there appears to be quite a bit of duplication within the Rex product range. Also AS16 does not appear to be available, unless under another name.
  4. Simstarter might be your best bet. Be very careful what you (manually) move out of your simobjects folder. The default aircraft in FSX often supply information to other aircraft, especially in the instrument packages. You could run in to the situation, for instance, where the aircraft you're trying to fly is looking for gauge references in the C-172 file. I'd be willing to bet P3D is similar, but don't know that for a fact.
  5. Ice Gauge - freeware from Flightsim.com - good one to have. I fly the C-208 quite a bit and it is not rated for autopilot use in icing conditions. Good to have that extra warning. SALS looks like fun, too. I especially the DME (I think that's what it is) readout on the same gauge.
  6. Thanks for that @dave evans. Let me be the first to welcome you to MH. Have fun on the MEBAR.
  7. Here's one for our Oz friends: An elderly man in Queensland had owned a large property for several years. He had a dam in one of the lower paddocks where he had planted mango and avocado trees. The dam had been fixed up for swimming when it was built and he also had some picnic tables placed there in the shade of the fruit trees. One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the dam to look it over, as he hadn't been there for a while. He grabbed a ten litre bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the dam, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee.
  8. We Met at the Bar Having already downed a few power drinks, she turns around, faces him, looks him straight in the eye and says, "Listen here, good looking. I will screw anybody, anytime, anywhere, their place, my place, in the car, front door, back door, on the ground, standing up, sitting down, naked or with clothes on...It doesn't matter to me. I just love it." His eyes now wide with interest, he responds, "No kidding... I'm in Government too. Are you federal or provincial?”
  9. Quote: "WINDOWS 10 Creators Update will launch later this month and here's how to make sure your PC is ready top install it." I guess WINDOWS 10 Creators don't include proof reading
  10. So sorry to hear about your crash, JA. I feel your pain, having had to do one serious reload and another minor one. On the serious one, I documented every step of the reload so that I would have a guideline if (yeah, yeah, - when) I ever needed to do it again. Fingers crossed, appropriate gods appeased! The one thing I haven't had to do is make the switch to Win10. My new(ish) laptop has both O/S's installed in the hope that I might begin to study the workings of Win10. That isn't happening. My little brain has dug in its heels and pointedly ignores the reminder on ever
  11. Congratulations. Best wishes to Serenity Rose on her first full day.
  12. Fantastic shots, Alan. It's wonderful to see that someone is still keeping these historic machines alive. Here in Canada, there is almost no steam equipment running for lack of qualified operators. I guess a career as a "navvy" just isn't attractive to the younger generation. 13. My condolences to the British people. I am at a loss for words to describe my loathing for the madmen who commit these atrocities.
  14. Not to be outdone by the boys from Merry 'Ol England - Victoria, British Columbia, said to be more British than Britain (not true, but it keeps the tourists happy) has a double roundabout that gives the locals, and visitors alike, fits. The roundabout is still under construction in this Google Maps screen capture, but that's at least three years old. Coming in from the bottom of the picture, Victoria is to the South, and CYYJ is at 11 o'clock. The BC Ferry Terminal is to the North but it's not necessary to get on the roundabout to get to the ferries. Good thing too, it's bad enough
  15. Clip out photo Note to self: If driving in the UK - try to go around Swindon. @allardjd said: NRQ is an auxiliary field for Navy aircraft having difficulty and unable to make it back to Pensacola NAS. Reading the plate, I note that all of the runways are 1800ft long. This (likely) Means that only Aeroncas, PA18's, and similar and aircraft with tailhooks will be invited to the party. It's interesting that the UW article quoted by @allardjd ends without letting us in on the secret of what to do with a 1500 ft rope with a weight on the end of it when atte
  16. I think it sort of dates me. Milk, bread, and the like have not been delivered in Canada for quite some time now. Horse-drawn conveyances have been gone much longer - I'm talking the early fifties when I remark about that milk delivery method. It's a shame, too. As I recall, the milkman didn't have to do anything by way of driving. He just got on board and the horse went to the next house on the route and stopped. I never did ask how long it took to re-train the horse if someone were to drop off the route. Inquiring minds must know. Too late to ask now. I'm now living in a neighbourh
  17. I remember milk being delivered by a horse-drawn wagon (in Montreal). My wife hates it when I mention that fact.
  18. I got rid of PB ages ago. They still ignore my attempts to stop their advertising (read spam), so I have a filter built in to my email client that sends their email to the trash can.
  19. The Art Of Conversing With Spouse With a very seductive voice a wife asked her husband "Have you ever seen Twenty Dollars all crumpled up?" "No" said her husband. She gave him a sexy little smile unbuttoned top three buttons of her blouse and slowly reached down in her cleavage created by a soft, silky pushup bra and pulled out a crumpled Twenty Dollar bill. He took the crumpled Twenty Dollar bill from her and smiled approvingly. She then asked "Have you ever seen Fifty Dollars all crumpled up?" "No I haven't" he said, an anxious tone in his voi
  20. An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic. He put a sign up outside that said: "Dr. Geezer's clinic. Get your treatment for $500, if not cured, get back $1,000." Doctor "Young," who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer's clinic. Dr. Young: "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me?" Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth." Dr. Young: Aaagh
  21. Who knows, Wayne? There could be better drivers around now. It's easy to go to the manufacturer's website and download a new set. There's a mess of stuff that needs to be addressed to get the joysticks working in FSX. By memory (because I'm not at home) there are issues like the various .XML files that interfere with one another. I sympathise because I went through the same routine a while back. The solution to the .XML file dilemma is to erase the file. It will regenerate the next time you run FSX' Here's where you'll find the Controls 'Standard.XML': C:\Users\[Your Handle]\AppDat
  22. Go to: Control Panel\System\Device Manager and look for a heading that says HID or Human Interface Devices. Right click on the one of them and click on the Properties. I'm on a laptop that doesn't have any joysticks or the like, so it's hard to tell what you're going to see. Generically, it will say something like USB Input Device or HID-Compliant Device. I cannot recall if the Saitek drivers actually said 'Saitek'. Whatever you do find, make sure it's the right thing because the next step is to Uninstall the driver. Hope this helps
