  3. There endeth the lesson! I always make sure pitot heat is on no matter what the weather is like.
  4. When I was at sea we had to learn to read the skies at all times as it was always best to spot an incoming storm before it hit the ship. I have photos of waterspouts in the bay of bengal, a cyclone in the malacca straits and went right through a hurricane in the Atlantic. One of the worst things though was a massive Haboob (sand storm) in the red sea. The stuff got everywhere and it took weeks before every last bit of sand had been cleared from the ship. The sand shotblasted some parts of the ship and scoured windows and ports. It got into air intakes and even reached the engine room. It jam

  12. My friend that owns Bognor Regis Airfield told me a while ago the Rolls Royce Motors (who have a logistics centre a short distance from the airfield) had asked him if they could be permitted to fly VIPs into the field for business meetings etc. I took it a stage further and have been trying to find the largest aircraft I could get to operate in and out of the airfield and still live a safety margin on the airfield. My way of thinking was that if Rolls Royce needed to ship in things like engines from BMW etc then they would need something to carry the load. This was my solution, the C-27 Sparta
  13. Avro 504N over Old Warden. Tha 504N was fitted with an Armstrong Siddeley Lynx radial engine as opposed to the earlier Rotary types used on previous versions. It was also distinguished by a revised undercarriage set up that was not only stronger but did away with the nose over strake seen on early versions. The difference between the 504K and 504N is very apparent. Thanks for viewing
  14. I really cannot see the appeal of jumping out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft! LOL
  15. Great pics, a shame my Father's no longer with us, He loved the P-38 and had models and photos of them all over the place, I'd have printed these off for him.
