Ran across this by accident on Avsim and boy am I glad I did! Looks fantastic, can't wait to try it out. As far as I can make out, Maps2BGL downloads map data from Google Earth but instead of streaming it into FS like TileProxy does it saves it as a normal scenery BGL file. Glad I found it as my PC doesn't have the power to run TP. Only problem I can see with Maps2BGL is the lack of a feature to reduce the resolution to a more managable size. Oh well. Enjoy! The Avsim thread with relevant links is here. Dave

Flight 1 Digital Aviation Fokker 70-100 Simulation Released
dgor replied to mutley's topic in News and Press Releases
Looks fantastic! I've been looking forward to this for a while but the lack of a VC as yet is a bit disappointing. At least it will be a free update. :-) Dave -
Know the feeling Dai! A great excuse for a flight (who needs an excuse...?) and an excellent set of shots - love the dusk light! Great stuff. Dave

It started life as a Packard Bell Imedia but countless tweaks, small explosions and wild cursing by me have turned it into: 160GB SATA2 HDD 3GB DDR2 RAM (dual-channel) 480W Tagan PSU nVidia/BFG 7600GT DVD-RW drive External 250GB HDD Stock monitor and basic Logitech speakers And some dust Top of the list is a whole new system, I can't upgrade this one due to a tiny case (and tiny wallet admittedly) and an ancient motherboard. Hi Luke, RW/APP ERROR is something I had a lot of problems with in my early Boeing days Basically it means you haven't got the NAV1/ILS (some addons have a proper ILS box like the real deal but I think the PSS 757 just uses the NAV1 radio) and CRS properly set for the runway. That's what it meant on the PMDG 737 for me anyway. Try to input all this data (ILS freq and course should be available on the FMC approach page) as soon as getting information as to which runway you'll be landing on :-) Remember the flap and speed setting on the approach page too. Remember not all runways have ILS an

Emirates Airline to Launch A380 Service to US
dgor replied to allardjd's topic in Real World Aviation
Kieran, I don't think Dublin could handle an A380 just yet although Singapore Airlines did fly cargo 747s in there a few years back. Dublin is undergoing big expansion though including a new terminal and a parallel runway so you never know! Mabye A380s will come to the Emerald Isle some day. Dave -
A photoreal texture can do wonders for a shot Steve but you've gone far and beyond anything I could do even with a photo in that Mustang shot! Well done

Hi Fighterpilot, I did a feature on this quite a while back, should still be current but as Theo said the software might be an issue in FSX. Best to check the Vatsim website and forums for info on that :-) Anyway, hopefully you will find this useful. http://www.mutleyshangar.com/features/dgor/vsim.htm Any questions please feel free to ask via PM or email :-) Cheers Dave

Good luck Kieran, we've just had the dreaded exam week in school - weeks of revision for a exam-filled week (no normal classes) that really wears you down. Finished mine at 12pm on Friday though, happy days! Getting the marks back now - nerve wracking! We did the Nornirish equivalent to SATs last year - KS3s and they weren't so bad. As I said, best of luck! Dave

Joe, A very happy birthday and here's wishing you many happy returns - hope you are having a fantastic day! Hardly seems like another year gone! Congratulations buddy :-) PS: love it Dai! Dave

Hi all, I tried the newest drivers again yesterday - still no luck. I'm having a look at the forum topic Panos posted and am going to give that a go. Thanks Panos! I am back, by the way. Exams are over for another 6 months, only the results to get now  Worst part of the whole thing. Anyway, sorry for not being around much for a while, I've missed this place!

Congratulations Pam! Love the look of that cake Dai, very nice! Happy Birthday

Congratulations John! You've earned it :mrhappy: -
Welcome aboard guys! You've come to the right place  Happy Birthday Pancho!

Sorry Daily Mail, but the ceiling altitude for a loaded A320 is 39,100ft. Oops! And 10,000ft is a bit much for traffic avoidance in anyone's book. Martin might be right, possibly just coincidence.

These things seem to happen in batches don't they  Rest in peace.

Funny, I don't see any Indian airlines putting beef ON the menu to cater for ex-pat Britons... Come on, as anti-racist as I am when you come to live in a country you are saying that you are happy with its culture and way of life. There is no need to change something as trivial as an airline menu (and it IS a national staple) when the only people it is likely to offend are so extremist they shouldn't be in the country in the first place. ATWC Leg 117 EGLL - EGHI the final chapter
dgor replied to mutley's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
What can I say Joe? Absolutely marvellous! A really spectacular end to what has been a spectacular journey. Thanks to all those who have taken part and thanks to you Joe! This has to be far and away the best interactive challenge the web ever did see. It was the best use of 83,820nm of FS scenery I have ever seen :dance2: Well done for getting us home in style, and thanks again buddy  Cheers Dave -
#2 could be a photo. Fantastic edits Reef, you've outdone yourself with these!

Leg 116=>>Jersey[EGJJ]-London Heathrow[EGLL]
dgor replied to A320cap's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
Fantastic post Panos! A beautiful plane and livery, I loved the cockpit shots which had a real sense of being there! It is very difficult to get good shots at night but you have done an excellent job there, especially as the sun was setting. Definitely my favourite ATWC post from you to date - well done! :mrhappy: -
Leg 115 Cardiff EGFF - Jersey EGJJ
dgor replied to AirbusLad's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
Great leg into one of my favourite British Airports sceneries! Loved the shots and good commentary too, nice one! -
Dave stands corrected! :dance2: Completely agree about T2005 John.

My entry: unedited and taken from one of my favourite ATWC legs. The hulking 747 hitting the tarmac after a 4-hour flight across Africa.
