  1. I agree sometime they can be a pita because they change your altitude or heading for 5 minutes, but it is usually to avoid other trafic... or mountains ! On the other hand when you are in a night flight on autopilot, there is nothing much else to do than switching the radio from one ATC to the other and make some of these heading/altitude changes... and control with Nav Aids and GPS they send you in the right direction !
  2. Thks for the info ! I don't have so many flies around, probably missing dead mice in the house ... I've been sailing ( cruising and racing) some 35 years and I often was navigator on board because I always loved it (and also specially loved sailing at night, makes navigation easier because you can see reference points - buoys, lighthouses - from far away.) The KNL 90 in the Islander reminds me of the first generation GPS ... since it is coordinates only for your position, you need the map to figure out where you are and I have a Plan-G map opened on my second monitor with my flight pla
  3. " Looking for a new base While my two pilots Aaron Slater and Kathy Cook keep on flying the two Cessnas 185 from Prince Rupert (CYPR), I have decided it is time to make a move inside Alaska and open a second base there..." Full story (and many more) at : http://cors-air.over-blog.com
  4. That's a good thing, but I am concerned when I'm holding the yoke ! Think I will stick to daylight flights around there and leave the dirty jobs to the employees... Will see tomorrow how it goes when I bring back the Islander from Guernsey.
  5. Base opened in Wales. As I prefer smaller and cheaper places, the base has been opened in Swansea, although it has no ILS. Leased also a BN2 Islander there for flights to Isle of Man, Scilly Islands, Ouessant and the Channel Islands ( just had a flight to Guernsey, memories of my younger years ! ).
  6. Great shots as usual !

    Aerosoft has a new one : http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=13090&s_design=DEFAULT&shopfilter_category=Flight+Simulation&s_language=english
  8. Finally decided that due to my original culture, Brittany Airfreight would become an Interceltic company. Plans are now to open a base in Wales (probably Cardiff) and from there will try to extend to Ireland and Scotland. On the Southern front will try to take a foot in celtic Spain by opening a base in Galicia.
  9. Nice pics, makes me wish I could find some more time to fly helos in FSX, I think the last time I flew helos was EECH a few years ago after the Microprose Gunship series...
  10. Nice shots, really hi-viz livery !
  11. Thanks guys. I fly with the old Flight 1 set ( GEX North America + UTX Canada / UTX Alaska + Flight Environment X ) and a "light" Sweet FX ( no bloom, no HDR, only colors and saturation enhancement ) Only cropped the original shot to leave some room in front of the plane (from 1920x1080 to 1366x1024) and put a little blurry frame around. It's been three or four days now with rough conditions in this corner of the woods (rain, low ceilings, wind) Makes good screenshots and also makes navigation and landings interesting !
  12. Taking the C 185 from Terrace CYXT back to base in Prince Rupert CYPR
  13. In the end couldn't resist to flying the Islander, had a real lousy weather for maiden flight, low ceiling, rain and a 12 knots wind @ 70° on landing at Sandspit CYZP. Was fun navigating in low-vis with the old KLN 90A Bendix GPS, reminded me of sailing times before the on-map GPS
  14. You're welcome. I've been sailing a lot around your Isle of Wight in the early 80s ( Cowes Week, Cowes-Dinard, Channel Race ... ) I was born in Saint Malo just across the Channel and at the time we were racing the RORC races on a half tonner called Crazy Horse. Great memories !
  15. Thanks ! Well, I think I am in love with props and bush flying , so I never planned to upgrade the companies to heavies, long distance and big airports. Nothing rejoices me more than hauling freight to some remote place in the mountains with a small dirt strip or to a small cove where you have to "water" between islands. It's even better if the weather is so-so and some wind blowing... My european company lets me fly turboprops on larger airfields, but sometimes short grass tracks with trees not far away. Since I fly real GMT time of the day, no time acceleration and real weather, I often fl
  16. Update on the companies : In Prince Rupert CYPR (Canada), Kathy Cook is doing a great job with the toundra wheels Skywagon, flying long distance runs between airfields, while I am visiting all small places and coves around the islands with the amphib. Plans are to lease soon a Twotter (Aerosoft) or a BN2 Islander (Flight 1) In Rennes LFRN (France) Thomas Brittain is handling the first C208b Grand Caravan across France, and I leased a second one which I use for cross Channel operations with Great Britain. I plan to open another base in the South of France and probably one in the South o
  17. Nice pics and a beautiful place to fly !
  18. On the way from Wrangell Harbour (68A) to Prince Rupert (CYPR)
  19. Nice ! Looks like Lago di Como ...
  20. Nice story and well done ! When on the jobs board, I always have a look at the lower left window where it gives details of airfields departure and arrival when I don't know the place. Tells the heading, length, type and altitude of runways and if they have ILS and lights.( It should have shown a runway altitude of 0 and the type should have been "water").
  21. Great plane and nice pics !
  22. News from the companies : Since my flying time has been reduced lately ( and will be for some time as nice weather is coming and I will spend more time on my other hobby which is nature and wildlife photography ) I closed my carribean company ( which gave me some sunny time during the winter but I finally was not too crazy about island hopping ). I reached enough rep and money to hire my first pilots. Thomas Brittain (nice choice of name by Air Hauler for a breton company...) is driving the Cessna Grand Caravan around France until I will have enough money to lease a second one and take a
  23. Two weeks ! Great... Hope it's not too hot ! For the moment it's around 45° F during the day... It reminds me of a concert with Gilles Vigneault (famous french canadian singer from Quebec) I went to see many years ago. He had a song called "Mon pays c'est l'hiver" ( My country it is winter ) and introduced it by saying " Last year we had summer on a Sunday so the kids could enjoy it..." Getting some spring showers sometimes. Here is the fjord entrance to Yes Bay... Nice to have a working GPS !
