As beautiful as part 1

Great pics ! There is still this "melting ice" effect I also find on close views of vertical cliffs in Alaska.

Thks Brett. You're right, one of my grandfathers had been a sailor on board the big three masts going around the Cape Horn to Valparaiso in Chile and I grew up with his stories (going to Valparaiso is one of the things left on my to-do list, I was very sad when there was the huge fire there lately). The whole history of the town is made of sea trade , attacking british ships in the Channel, and explore the world (Jacques Cartier who discovered Canada, the first french settlements in Brasil, the cod fishing around Newfoundland (Saint Pierre et Miquelon) the Falklands which were called "Les Mal

I lived most of my life by the sea (these were the happy days when you could choose where you wanted your job to be...) on the Atlantic (Lorient, La Rochelle) or on the Mediterranean (Nizza la Bella ) Life has brought me inland near Airbus city, but from here I can be in one and a half hour in the mountains, in two hours by the Atlantic Ocean and in two hours by the Mediterranean. So it's not too bad, except it gets a little hot in summer (in two weeks from now temperatures will go down) and we live in the south fashion, with shades half closed all day and enjoying the evenings.

On my flight from Guernsey to a small airfield near Nantes, I flew over my birthtown today. Under the plane is Dinard with "La Grande Plage" - the main beach - (a wealthy holiday resort with wonderful houses from the 30s, which was developped by the Brits) and on the left across the river Rance is Saint Malo. (my grandfather used to say the people from Dinard were not like us, they lived "de l'autre côté de l'eau " - on the other side of the water !) The red dot shows where I spent all my youth. I lived with my parents on the third floor, just had to cross the street to be on the beach

After yersterday's wonderful night flight under the moon from Guernsey to Le Havre (LFOH), it was time to look for something to bring back home. There were goods to pick up at Argentan (LFAG) in the middle of Normandy. A little hop from Le Havre flying over Deauville and its beaches and we landed on the little grass strip. After loading, it was a pretty straight fly home over Jersey VOR with a beautiful weather. A few low clouds over the Channel Islands forced me to go down to 1800 ft to approach Guernsey. I was lucky I could quickly find a place in the traffic after a short downwind leg. Anot

Bingo ! that's it !

Nice weather on tonight's hauling flight from Guernsey to Le Havre.

Only problem is I know it was made first for FS2004 by a french team then redone for FSX/P3v2, but I can't remember where I got it .... Looks like I start loosing some brain cells !

Cessna 150 L for FSX and P3Dv2 with docs in french/english including the real 198 pages plane manual. This flight is around where I live with the Pyrénées in the background. VC with many clickable zones, including a usable plastic Aristo 617 flight computer with rotating wheel on the copilot's seat ( and a tutorial to use it... ) No 2D panel. For people who have time to look around at the landscape (cruising speed 110 - 115 knts) In front of us is the "Montagne Noire" (the Black Mountain) with a small glider airfield on top, - (added by Occitania freeware scenery) - near

Thanks for the link, interesting. Unfortunately, the answer to your question "In my darkest moments I wonder if we'll ever learn." is probably no. Only needs to have a look at the news.

I pay them enough to avoid complaints. And I don't see why they would complain about flying a brand new Embraer 195 after a few months of flying BN Trislanders and Shorts 360 ! And there can't be any of this company's pilots around here as I am the only one at the moment.

Sure is good looking ! Thanks for the pics.

I was born in Saint Malo, across the Channel. I was sailing races on several boats from my hometown around the late 70s - early 80s ( IOR half tonners and one tonner) Every year we would come across for RORC Championship racing like the Channel Race or Cowes-Dinard. Great memories !

Didn't have to wait very long, the Aurigny repaint for the new G-NSEY Embraer 195 is available at Premier Aircraft Design. Cockpit is not high quality, but from outside it looks OK and it will be good enough for my future AI pilots...

Nice set of pics and nice flight !

To stay in the mood, I had "Dark side of the moon" on the MP3 player !

I had to take my breton Islander back to base in Rennes LFRN for the week end, from Le Havre LFOH. Take off from LFOH, heading 225 after departing from runway 04. Quite some sea traffic as you can expect around Le Havre ( thks to a great freeware addon, more than 200 different ships and routes in different zones of the world - mainly Europe, the Carribean, east and west coast of the US and Brasil ) A nice sunset over the Channel A few clouds along the coast Finals at LFRN with 10 kts crosswind, after hopping over a building just left from the runway

I got it all wrong that year... I was 18 and went to the USA for one year as exchange student. I arrived in New York a couple of weeks after Woodstock and I was back to Europe a couple of weeks after Wight !

GEX / UTX Europe

Reminds me of the many times I've been sailing in these waters...

I can understand, I am using the nice freeware "Occitania" for the south west of France where I live (in fact a whole 1/4th of France) with quantity of textures added, special autogen with many VFR objects and almost every airfield redone. But in fact I spend most of my flying time in other parts of the world...

Nice one ! The Bf 109 is one of my favourite rides in IL2.

The night hauling to Guernsey was pretty much straightforward. Only needed to find my way for departure at EGHS because no lights, but I had memorized the place when landing this afternoon. Visibility was much better, and it was a straight 94 nm run to Guernsey where I landed a greaser on runway 9 at 23:16 with a 6 knots crosswind. 1048 lbs of flowers were handed over against 7500 GBP, and 3500 went straight away into the repair of the ADF, that the ground crew will have working overnight.
