  1. It sounds like you have sort have created a work around that is bearable then What motherboard is it, was it one of the main manufacturers or is it a rebranded version of someone elses? Worth having a look there is a lot of rebranded bits out there. I should know I seel alot of it
  2. Hi Mutley, I'm wondering if I need to enable something in BIOS or perhaps it may be because this case doesn't have a reset switch which I thought was odd when I put it all together. I'm back at work today so will ask one of the technical support guys, as you say they should have a good idea and they are the only ones running Windows 7 at work so far and have been since RC.
  3. Hi Guys, Tonight I found a slight issue with my new pc, which I think is to do with Windows 7 (possibly). Basically I had to pop off to do something, so I thought I would just pop it into Hibernate and resume later. However everything didn't go to plan. It hibernated fine, but when it came to waking it up there was nothing. I tried the power button, mouse keyboard, even put them in the PS2 slots to try and still wouldn't boot. Turned of at the mains and back on, still nothing... Now I was getting really worried, in the end I had to leave it turned off for about 20 minutes at the mains bef
  4. Hi Guys, I have updated the site again. Added some screenshots of my Boeing 737-800 with REX 2 running, quite stunning, take a look. The site has also passed the 400 visitors mark which is great, thanks for looking... http://web.me.com/slimnasty/SlimAir_Logistics/Welcome.html
  5. Hi Guys, Just to let you know that I have updated my website this morning which brings it up to date. Hope you are all enjoying the blog, almost in a position to start hiring New pilots again. http://web.me.com/slimnasty/SlimAir_Logistics/Welcome.html If anyone can think of anything I could add, don't hesitate to post it here
  6. This one looks interesting, I see the beta 8 seems to be the latest offering. Is it all beta versions for this and are there potentially a lot of problems or manual settings required? Is anyone here running this and how are you getting on with it if you are. I would love to replace the default scenery and was thinking of the VFR set, but it's only the UK and at the moment I fly all over Europe at various altitudes.
  7. What are the problems? Might be worth running with the side of the case off, in case you are having over heating problems, you can usually tell this if the system is crashing when under a lot of 3D strain. It is also worth checking that the power supply is supplying enough power to your graphics card if it has power connectors. My old PC had both problems in that the ATi 3850 needs a hell of a lot of power, more than newer faster cards in fact. I also had periodic crashes so replaced the side of my case with a new one. The new one had a built in fan which although is fairly slow is the siz
  8. Hi Guys, I would say that I have really expanded my collection of add-ons for FSX this year and my favourite all time one must go to AirHauler which has meant I look at FSX in a totally new way and the good old sim now has some purpose instead of my flying around on my own in free flight. I would also recommend REX 2 and Aerosoft's Mega Airport series as these add more realism to FSX also. I haven't really found a great aircraft pack, although I only have three so far and I tend to stick with a default Boeing 737-800 painted up in SlimAir Logistics livery, I seem to get on with this one bet
  9. Hi Guys, Okay I think I have this system running just about right now. Tonight I had Air Hauler Running, REX 2 sending weather information to FSX with FSX running with fairly high settings and I was getting an easy 30 FPS + whilst having MSN, Explorer 8, Live Mail and copying 34.7 GB of files across my LAN all at the same time. My CPU was jumping from about 70% most of the time and I still had almost 4.5GB of RAM left to use. Hmmm now what else can I run at the same time... Oh and whilst FSX was on auto pilot, I build a really old third PC, now that's what I call multitasking...
  10. I haven't had a chance to look into the themes yet, I will do though at some point in the not to distant future. Are you still running Vista as I am using Windows 7 and FSX hasn't crashed once, but used to with XP Pro. Also do you use Direct X 10 preview as I also have that turned off as it also is very buggy. Worth a try if it makes things more stable in FSX.
  11. Hi Mutley. The installation went pretty smooth and I had read a few horror stories on forums which didn't seem to effect me at all. I do try and fly real time most of the time when playing AH with Real Weather turned on too, need to get more practice in with ILS approaches though, still not very good at them and sometimes really struggle in bad weather. Was thinking of getting a Boeing 747 soon to have a go with, but need to upgrade some of my AI aircraft too... it's tough being CEO at SlimAir :nea: I am not sure I will every be up to see day break, im a night creature...
  12. Hi Mutley, Downloaded it, took ages, then installed had a play, realised I didn't install the 2.0 patch so was running 1.0 instead. Have just setup a route with AH and flying my Boeing 737 and low and behold it's dark now.... will have to see what it is like in daylight tomorrow... :nea: So far so good, although my framerate coming out of my Hi Res Heathrow dropped to 6fps, up to about 30 fps in the sky though, may need a few more tweaks...
  13. Hi Mutley, I have decided to go for the REX 2.0 as when going to purchase is does give you a disc option for about
  14. I have to agree with Mutley on this one, I jumped from XP to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with no problems at all and Flight Simulator X runs great, just about tweaked all my settings now and seems to be very stable without any crashes or problems to report so far. I have been running this for a good couple of weeks now. A little tip if you are running Windows Vista though is turn off the side bar gadget thing on the right, it uses about half a gig of ram according to the UK Product Manager of Microsoft, so free up some by turning it off
  15. Hi M8, No problem, add me on your msn later and we can catch up, I might go for REX 2 as seems to add more value as an overall product and I can download it quick, still a shame it's not on disc, will have to make my own I guess :-)
  16. I am having a read now, does either REX or Active Sky Advanced to the ground textures though, or are they both more intended to be weather engines? It is a little confusing to start with...
  17. Hey this is almost real time support My landing at Dublin didn't go to plan, someone parked another aircraft one the runway, had to go around I think I will have to download one of these, just prefer the disc as you know, I might go for the REX 2, need to read some more to see which is better as hadn't heard of Active Sky before you just mentioned it. Could do with replacing the ground textures more as the default ones look terrible in my opinion.
  18. Hi Mutley, Never heard of that one, will be having a look in a moment for it, just about to land my 737-800 at Dublin I was thinking of getting REX 2, but I hate downloads, as you know I prefer everything on disc. But have been worried adding more will hit my frame rate, but seems to be running excellent now, have most settings just about right. I don't mind the default clouds as such, but I am always keen to make it more realistic, even though I am still a novice
  19. Yeah, lost a few extra million pounds, but I did have
  20. Hi Guys, Been a few weeks what with the building of a New PC and installing all the software back on, but finally got back to updating the website, only a few bits and grabbed some images of the net for the blog as haven't re-instaled Photoshop yet, although I could have done it on the Mac to be honest. Anyway pop on over and have a read and look... http://web.me.com/slimnasty/SlimAir_Logistics/Welcome.html
  21. SlimAir Logistics  :bday: I should have seen that one coming... I managed to get one flight in from Madrid to Cambridge today and it was a good one, had one of the AI Pilots from MyTraffic 2010 hunt me down, follow me, then overtake me from northern spain to northern france, epic flight :-) Unfortunately I didn't see santa at all though... guess I didn't go far enough north...
  22. Merry Christmas to you all Now who's flying in my present?
  23. hi Guys, I am finally back in business again. It has taken me most of this week to re-install all my flight sim stuff back onto the PC, had a minor problem when I installed AH, but after having a browse on Just Flight Forum I found the answer, it was an invalid path to my FSX Folder. Just about tweaked it all up and running SlimAir Logistics again. I am getting between 20 - 70 FPS depending on whether I am at a busy airport or at 30,000 ft. I have also upped all the settings and it has really settled down, no problems so far with out of memory crashing FSX or .net issues which is great. Fun
  24. Fair enough. Hope you enjoy it. Oh I will do don't you worry. I have installed about half of my packs for Flight Sim so far, hopefully get the rest on tonight and then copy across my data saturday with any luck. Not sure I have got everything right though as installed some plane packs last night and if you turn on direct x 10 preview mode the textures on the planes don't load. very strange, will need to have a look into that also. might be because im on windows 7 64 bit with direct x 11 installed...
