Corfu X updated (and ready for Prepar3D !)
Tim_A replied to mutley's topic in News and Press Releases
Looks good - up to Orbx standards from the screenshots. Covers the whole island in photoreal; lots of autogen & other detail, so plenty of interest for VFR guys like me. And it's included in the 20% discount offer (€14.36 inc VAT). I might even break my spending embargo and buy this.... -

33.2 here at Enstone, at 14:50. Definitely hot! -
They move around a bit as the photos get updated, but the planes have been visible in there since day one. The colour banding is a result of the 3-CCD cameras being used, and the relative proximity of the fast moving aircraft. The pictures are taken from survey planes at between 5000 & 8000ft, not from satellites as the author of the article seems to think.

An ultra-light plane has crashed into a Ferris wheel in a village north of Sydney, trapping four people, Australian officials say. The Cheetah S200 plane with two men aboard did not topple the wheel after hitting it during a festival in the village of Old Bar. The men and two children at the top of the wheel were trapped for some time before being rescued by a crane. There were no serious injuries in Saturday's incident, the officials say. http://www.bbc.co.uk...acific-15135716

Well done. Where was it?

You can get shorter jobs by having multiple bases. The shortest job I've had was less than one mile - between two co-located airports, that had parallel runways and were literally separated by the width of a taxiway (actually they weren't, since there was a taxiway joining them!). AH forced me to take off, fly a circuit and land though - it wouldn't have it if I just taxied via alpha and charlie to the destination FBO!

Make sure it has a SandyBridge i5 or better, and a discrete graphics card, and it should make a pretty reasonable job of fsx. If you can afford a decent sized SSD even better, since the slow hard drives you often find in laptops can really drag it down performance-wise.

USA planned war with UK in the 1930s !!!!

Fair warning: I have upgraded my personal readiness status from "What?" to "Oh yeah?", and in line with current government spending policies, I have printed out a sheet of paper with the word "Bang!" on it (using draft setting). And I should warn you there's plenty more where that came from: I have several reams of paper and spare ink cartridges. So if it's a war you want, we're well prepared. On paper, anyway. Or at least, with paper... :th_smiles73: -
Another option for the lettering is decal paper. You can print on it with an inkjet, just like normal, after which you need to fix it using acrylic lacquer spray (from any craft shop). Then you simply apply the decal the same way as airfix etc kit decals.

With autopilot problems, the usual suspects are auto throttle, trim setting, and balance. If the plane is out of trim when you engage the autopilot, on some aircraft FS will immediately return it to that trim state when the AP disengages, which is effectively like yanking the stick back, and that will cause altitude hold to disengage. The same is true for weight & balance. If you let AH load the plane with no thought to cargo position, it can easily push the CofG way out of limits, and that will have the same effect as a good thump on the nose or tail.

As regards the 'tittilation' scanners, I think people should be able to pick out their pictures from a wall at the end of the corridor -- just like the photos you get coming off fairground rides.

And people wonder why I regard America as a scary place...

And from a mate in RyanAir... "the flight attendants like them because the pilots now spend time playing angry birds instead of playing pranks on the stewardesses..." and from a first officer "There's only so much 'I Spy' you can take in the cockpit: 'I spy with my little eye something beginning with c.... clouds... dang. ...beginning with a. airplane? Oh shi........' "

Two reasons: I don't have one, and I don't have a budget to get one, or, particularly, the desire for one. I don't have anything against android as such, but there's nothing that's jumping up and down yelling 'buy me'. But if a commercial android project came my way, that could change things.

Yes. Thanks. Android: No iPad: Maybe something, possibly EFIS style that remotes the Plan-G data. Probably not the full app, although it may be able to run as a client using P-G like a server. I think the data set is too big for it to be entry self contained. Regardless, it won't be until after PG3, and that's on hiatus at the moment.

Chuck a Jepp manual into a bath of water and then find me a specific plate out of it. I'll wait... and wait... Oh dear, it's hardly usable. Sorry that's a fail, even if it isn't yet "mush". Your paper needs as much waterproofing as the electronics.. Nobody has suggested using the iPad for taking notes. The task described is as a class 1 or 2 EFB, running type A and B EFB applications. That covers chart and document display. It doesn't cover taking notes or doing anything else. (which doesn't mean that you *can't*, it's just not a requirement. If you want to use a pencil and paper to write
