Thanks for being quick on the ball here Joe ... I thought MS might have released it Seattle time and I would download it later, normally I'd be all over an MS FS release like this, but I'll catch up with it later I guess. The links are good, but they need you to log on to their domain for the download, I registered with them once and cant remember my log on details I'll sort it out later. Would love to hear first impressions from non MS testers on Flight though. I think Flight is either going to be utterly brilliant ... and most of us hardcore PC flight sim snobs (inc me) were wrong, or i

Crikey the s**t is about to hit the fan very soon. Is that £5.99 - 30.73MB for as good as third party Mustangs are in flight, with full cockpit ETC ,or is it still the famed Mustang ... flyable from the outside skin only? Hawaiian Adventure Pack - £14.99 - 632.64MB .... I think this is the real meat and veg MS want us to buy, they need to think again ... this is the rest of the Hawaiian Islands .. right?

Thanks folks, great food for thought

Hi Hurricane. I've seen 663 squadron the film many times, never knew there were books on it, something to check out, thanks. Tony Blackman has mentioned in the Nimrod book his experience with the Vulcan, he's a very good writer, thanks again I'd definitely recommend Rowland White's book Vulcan 607 if you are interested in this Aircraft, I've read it twice now and I'm overdue another read ... amazing sortie, I've often thought of trying to replicate this mission in stages as it happened in flight sim (without dropping any bombs of course) maybe one day. I recently read Tornado Down again a

As part of my pursuit and love of all things aviation I like to read on the subject as often as I can and have read many good aviation (mostly military related) books over the years. I'm currently reading ... Nimrod rise and fall by Tony Blackman. My late Dads last RAF posting was at RAF Kinloss here in NE Scotland with the Nimrods and I got to see the mighty Hunter up close a few times, if you like this aircraft or are building the 1/72 Airfix kit (I know there are other scale modellers here besides me) or intend to and wanted to know more about the real subject matter, give this book a rea

I guess we'll know tomorrow, either way I can see a lot of fireworks erupting on certain sites and I've already ordered my popcorn in anticipation Does anyone know what time it is released tomorrow and the download size? I'm in no particular hurry for it any-more but I will check it out and maybe even buy the extra Hawaiian island content if I think it warrants it. PC Pilot have apparently done a preview of sorts that will be on the news stands now but I don't have the issue yet, will be interesting to see what they think of it in the next issue. Talking of Hawaii, just finished watching t

I've often thought of trying one of the underground Train sims that I think Aersosoft do? I've seen one for the London Underground that is a rail network I've used a lot in the past for real, might be fun to try ... I'm not sure? I've even seen some pretty serious looking train sim controller hardware out there for these sims, so I'm sure there is some deep simulating to be done here. As a side note, I recently bought the Dive to Titanic PC sim/game as an impulse buy, its quite good actually and it was quite a thrill when I eventually did find the Titanic using the sonar to guide me ... I'll

Thanks Dai for the insights. Its just a couple of days away now for free download, but I'm more excited about my latest FSX add-ons arriving in the post tomorrow from Flightstore that cost a fair bit

Please post them Jack, would love to see them. Caught a glimpse of the ISS passing over last night, too cloudy tonight, but there is one last opportunity in this phase for my parts to see it tomorrow evening again ... assuming the clouds are clear of course. I've seen the ISS pass over many times and always enjoy it ... its sad to think that this great human achievement only has a finite life span, like many of our space endeavours too.

Great review I bought this download last week and have finished my first flight Christchurch NZ to McMurdo station ... now for some exploring!

Thanks for the feedback folks. Ordered the three Treescapes volumes for my England scenery and grabbed the South Ireland VFR photo scenery with Cork bundle too, that's me up to date with Horizon/Playsim photo scenery now

VFR Photographic Scenery Generation X, Scotland South
M31 replied to needles's topic in News and Press Releases
Oh Dear ... I've put 1 and 1 together and made 3 again ... Brian and Joe were just involved in normal banter ... I was caught off guard at a low ebb and jumped to the wrong conclusion for some silly reason. Profuse apology's to Brian and especially Joe for putting up with me. Lets move on, nothing to see here folks -

I meant what I said, Joe ... sometimes my enthusiasm overflows I guess? I certainly never meant any offence to Brian to warrant that response in public (in my mind) I have the highest respect for him ... I just Dunno? if he thought I was unwell, why not ask me in private? -

Not adversly ... I do have a medical condition that I try to keep in check. But thanks for the ground check mate, perhaps I have been posting here to much recently and I need to take stock. My take on life is very pythonesque, live for today and worry about tomorrow later ... I do enjoy this site though and I'll probably back off for a while. Cheers. PS: to tell the truth I'm totally embarrased now. PPS: you hit a raw nerve Brian and I jumped ... I still think your reply was a bit odd and unnecessasry though. -

I keep finding these new forums here on this site ... Neat. I got this scenery through the door today ... I heard a thump on my hallway carpet this morning, my Cat pricked up his ears and looked at me ... as if to say, do you think that was Playsims Scotland south delivered? Hope your happy, maybe you will feed me more now! <--- he's the most cynical spoiled Pet in Scotland BTW. And indeed it was and its good -
Thanks Guys, I'll be looking to purchase Treescapes soon, disregard my comment asking if we had snow covered tree's with this scenery ... I dont think current VFR scenery has land snowscapes either, moot point on my part Maybe we'll see an FSX add on called, Snowscapes VFR ? in the future
-
Good points John, and you are of course quite right ... and I also do appreciate the more relaxed atmosphere here at Mutley's Hanger compared to some forums I frequent (not necessarily Flight Sim ones) keep up the good work Mutley and admins, its appreciated
-
Thanks Sabre, you've sold me on this The Playsim/Horizon VFR scenery is outstanding but once you get low the effect is spoiled somewhat, looks like Treescapes goes some measure to making this more acceptable at low altitudes, quick question though, do the colour of the tree's change with seasons? if for example its been snowing do we see snow covered tree's, it might look a bit odd if not I'll give UK 2000 VFR airfields some consideration too once my funds recover ... bought Aerosoft Antartica X as well as Playsims VFR Scotland south today, I think you will like this latest VFR volume if y

I love the Playsims/Horizon VFR photo scenery for the type of flying I like to do and I see we have Treescapes for the England volumes, anyone using this? seems a bit expensive but if it adds to the atmosphere I'll probably give it a go. http://www.flightstore.co.uk/Treescapes%20Complete.asp

Anyway, just finished installing Playsims VFR Scotland south, in the end I installed it on my Velociraptor along with my other Scotland VFR scenery and leaving FSX on the SSD it works fine, wont spoil Brian's forthcoming review by saying too much apart from I feel it was well worth the wait I'll just point out one aspect of the install that caught me out though, right at the end it asks if I have VFR England adjoining scenery installed (Yes/No) as it was looking for it and could not find it ... I actually do have the England volumes but had not got round to installing them again, I'll proba

For sure, we are all here to learn from each other, this is not Avsim.

John .. I like you, and as one very enthusiastic flight sim enthusiast to another ... I used to do this stuff to death, these days I don't think its worth falling out with anyone over anymore... not on here, I love this place. We have what we have.
-
I respect your opinion John, but in a way MS did betray every single one of us who helped pump up The Current MS team for what it was over the years ... a team with vision and leadership, to something quite the opposite. Please tell me why MS in all those months of showing gorgeous scenery shots of Hawaii never once showed or hinted this was the only region, please tell me why .... and this is the money shot ... why did they never show us one shot of Golden hoops, and Treasure cache ... Why Why Why? Its because they were leading us up a garden path is why. If you cant see this John I don't

Well, I know what I think about this Seriously Joe, thanks for mentioning this ... I was going to say something about it on my last rant but I'm growing ever milder in my old age these days and I cant be bothered anymore For sure I read the closure thread, the whole Flight forum there was like a derailed Train wreck that morbid people have to stop by to look at and comment on somehow ... I checked in about once a week to look, it was funny but sad at the same time. The one post that made sense for me was the anti Flight guy saying (not because he was anti flight) and Tom to his credit

This might be better off on the hardware forum ... Good questions ... sometimes, especially after a format and a new PC build especially its best to just install everything afresh IMHO. I really don't think there is any evidence to support theroys that SSD's have a failure rate more than mechanical HD's, if anything its the other way about, SSD's have no moving parts, don't wear out the same as mechanical parts ... and there is a lot more to it than that ... I posted this here on my research on SSD's. ...http://forum.mutleys...sd-hard-drives/ And I still stand by them. They are PC hardwa
