Yup John, there are all sorts of variations on the theme, some are more draconian than others as I found out with Space Shuttle Simulator 2007, in the case of Eagle Dynamics who are lenient on their allotted activations ... I think you get about 8 (and you can still get more apparently) for each sim off the top of my head?, you can also deactivate their software to save you an activation if you are upgrading for example, of course that wont help for a hard disk crash, but their policy I have no problems with ... I have the film too, very enjoyable time travel adventure, also like the Tomcats, shame they are retired now. OK I found the control.xml file to import, still had to set up my controllers axis manually, but I have my FSX control set up imported over now, the file I was looking for was in C:\Users\my name\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls\standard.xml This path is for win 7 of course.

Installed today (thanks to Joe for saving me the download) and bought the academic license no problems, after some thought decided to install on the same SSD as FSX, initially had some control problems in FSX after the P3D install but it turned out it was my trim wheel unplugged and FSX still expected it to be there, sorted now 1: Looking at the P3D set up screen it shows it might be possible to import a control set up, clicked the button and it defaulted to my FSX install folder but the only .xml control file I tried to import seems to make no difference in P3D and controls are still stock

I'm not being funny John, but I've noticed you always defend Microsoft's vague plans for Flight and the company to the hilt, sometimes over more passionate long term flight simmers interests and ones who were a bit upset at first but have moved on now. I heard this on the radio today too, must have been very scary for passengers. We really do need to take a zero tolerance outlook to airline safety now though, wonder what made the pilot turn like that? I guess this incident will make it into a future episode of Air Crash Investigations once its fully investigated? ... Looks like I'll be trying P3D 1.3 this weekend and I'm watching this thread with interest, don't want to lose my carefully tweaked FSX install either ... I'm guessing its best to install P3D on a separate drive from FSX ... right? some of my larger add-ons like Gen X scenery are on a separate Velociraptor HD from my FSX install on an SSD and it looks like I can just add these add-on scenery packs already installed in FSX to the scenery library in P3D without having to install them again into P3D ... I take it? I'd read that X-Plane 10 does not hook into the registry, neither does Rise of Flig

Stellarium is great and more powerful than it looks on first look, and its free, used to use Starry Night that got very bloated over the versions, but this is all I need, excellent software.
