One says what one has to say to get free advertising in a glossy magazine... Seems like the Flight team has changed course several times along the way, and will continue to do so depending on what sells and what doesn't. Too bad. I'd rather the Flight team make a flying game out of passion than trying to guess what sells or not. And I doubt we'll see passion again from MS for a proper Flight Simulator ... for sure Bill Gates seems to have been behind much of the passion for Flight Simulator from MS over the years ... but he's gone now and cant cast no more influence.

Some things seem to have changed slightly since this one was published. John Well spotted John. It will be interesting to see the final review from PC Pilot in the next issue now the true intention of Flight is out.

Some of the newcomers to a certain site are actually saying they prefer to play flight with a mouse or x-box controller now, this is the site MS Flight reps take notice of too! LOL, I'm a passionate flight simmer for sure, angry at first about how we were deceived but accepting it now, where were the shots of golden hoops and aero caches in the run up to Flights release with all their great screen shots and video's?, they led us all up a garden path ... and you made a great point in another post John, from an earlier PC Pilot interview from early 2011 about how the intention was to embrace t

Thanks for that, will buy Aerofly soon

Just a little update, its taking a little longer than expected for things to get going, the Humira was delivered yesterday and it gets kept in the fridge for at least 48 hours, Monday or Tuesday I'll get a visit from the training nurse for the first injection and a few weeks later (hopefully) I'll get some relief from the pain once the drug does its work. Going to start doing hydrotherapy sessions in the local pool again soon, that was the only other thing that really helped with my AS. Cheers. -
Yup, been reading some very positive reviews and first hand user experiences on the card since its release and that's just as well because this was a very impulsive buy even for me, its been a long time since I bought new hardware on the day of its release. Been reading that it can handle triple screens of 1920 x 1200 each just fine with its 2GB vram, that's a resolution of 5760 x 1200 !! my current LCD is a 28" 1920 x 1200 LCD and I now do plan to go ahead and get two more before the summer for triple screen, the GTX 680 will actually do 4 screens from the one card and I have a VR Insight GP

Heh, not sure yet? I sold one of the GTX 570's here already, will wait until the new card arrives and make sure its not a dud, then sell either the current ( in rig in my sig) 570 here or move it into my other i7 920 rig and sell its ATI HD 6970 2GB here, and if no sale here after a while onto ebay.

I went and ordered an EVGA GTX 680 at about 1:15 PM this afternoon from OcUK and they have just emailed to say they are out of stock, these ones sold very fast apparently, changed my order to a Gigabyte one (they are all the same) for £10 more (sigh) and it would normally be here tomorrow but the last year or so all orders from OcUK and Scan seem to take 2 days to my area so I'll have it on Monday I should have probably waited a while to save a few quid, but I had the money spare just now and that's me sorted ... well at least until Ivy Bridge is out Here's a review from Nexus for anyone i

It is hard to justify but I'm seriously thinking about it ... at the end of the day I'm a keen PC hardware enthusiast too, depends just how much they are. I know Nvidea have asked the US stores to keep the price at $499 presumably to undercut the current ATI top of the range card, but that price even with adding VAT in the UK should be about £377 I read ... but I know from past experience with day one release cards that it will be a good bit more ... UK price gouging strikes again. Are you using your GTX 460 with triple head to go for three monitors? for sure the GTX 570 SC I have cant do thr

Nvidea GTX 680 2GB cards are out today apparently, the bigger hardware sites in in the UK like Scan and OcUK will be selling them from about 1 PM and prices are expected to be about £410 -£420, all reference designs just different warranty's from different manufacturers to set them apart, SC versions will be out in about 2 months and 4GB ones much much later and much more expensive, then there is the rumoured GTX 780 out at end of this year early next year to think about too. Finally we can do three monitors from one Nvidea card with the GTX 680 but even 2GB vram might not be enough for 3 x 1

Thanks again everyone ... choking back tears hear just now. Going on Humira is going to be a big change in my life ... I've not had that first jab yet ... but I think it will be next week at last. Ill get a visit from a nurse at home to witness my first self injection, then its up to me ...I'll have the usual three monthly check up at Aberdeen hospital ... but its all for the better. This thread made me remember I'm not the only ill person here ... thoughts go out to Alan in particular, and also anyone with back related problems ... I'm touched by good will here. This place is awesome and j -
I just think its sad we've so easly accepted Flight this way ... mark my words its been with hardly a murmer in the grand scheme of things. We've lost Bill Gates influence on this series forever now, its over to cash cows .... will my Saitek Toe Break axis ever work with MS Flight or will they release Alaska first.?

Thanks all ... I mean really .... means a lot. And I'll talk to joe first if I ever feel down again first!. -
Its quite a severe spinal disease and its finally caught up with me now ... all my younger life i was living life to the full and even much later ... much later. I think the biggest loss part of my life that is so debilitating these days is not the pain from my lower spine and neck but constant fatigue fighting AS all the time and trying to be strong. But after a long battle with the NHS I've been approved for the expensive medicine called Humira and i start its injections next week. I was first told about Humira about 10 years ago and how it as in testing worth a world cruise financial wis

No problems here so far on FSX and Flight and also IL2 CoD I've been getting into again. with my single GTX570 SC . I do think the GTX 680 series is going to be soon now with the current price drops on Nvidea new cards ... that's always a sign I'm not sure if we need to upgrade for flight sim though for a new GPU just yet with our 570's and 580's Joe, but i like new fast parts for my PC's. I'd like to be one of the first with a GTX 680 ... but maybe I'll wait this time ... it would need to have at least 3GB of vram and also be capable of a one card solution for three monitors like ATI can

Just a quick update ... I mentioned earlier in the thread that I'd missed the option for install path for MS Flight, well I un-installed it again and tried a new download this afternoon, what it does is download a small installer that offers to let you choose your own install path and this time I chose F:\MS Flight that is my 240 GB SSD (I prefer to keep game installs off my C:\ drive) I was wondering at this point if it would remember my settings and two purchases, the Hawaiian adventure pack and Maule Aircraft ... it did at least my account did and even my old progress in the game ... before

Chris Frishmuth's review is the best honest review of MS Flight yet IMHO, some of his comments like the poor mission engine in MS Flight that is supposed to be aimed at Gamers was far richer in FSX that if only some gamers that MS Flight are supposed to have attracted from nowhere could see, might get them seeing a far better Simulation with FSX in the first place? ... I'd honestly made those thoughts too in a post here a week or so ago in a first thoughts thread ... the voice acting was more diverse and much richer in FSX missions too IMHO. Its still early *honeymoon* time for for MS Flight

For those that like to stay up to date with drivers, seems like not so long ago for Nvidea's last driver, they still don't do monthly drivers like ATI do ... but for all flight sims I own I do prefer Nvidea Back when I used to follow hardware more closely this was sometimes a sign the next gen card might be close, in this case the Kepler named GTX 6xx series ... I'm a hardware enthusiast so would like a GTX 680, depends on the price and performance over what I have already though. http://uk.geforce.com/drivers I'll try the new driver later tonight.

I can tell you that the poster there with a certain Rock band trio name and numbers from Canada is almost certainly from sort of MS Division and lives in Seattle ... I know him quite well and he's always worked for Microsoft. EDIT: this wiki article about Microsoft is quite revealing ... The company has been in numerous lawsuits by several governments and other companies for unlawful monopolistic practices. In 2004, the European Union found Microsoft guilty in a highly publicized anti-trust case. Additionally, Microsoft's EULA for some of its programs is often criticized as being too restric

Derby, been there many times too, probably en route to Donington Park for the old GP 500 Motorcycle meetings on my Bike and once to see the Monstors of Rock at Donington 1988 it was, Iron Maiden headlined ... I once did John O Groats to Lands End on a Motorcycle ... great times

I'll take a flight down there soon and post some screenshots for you I've a soft spot for Dublin, went to a mates stag do there once

They mostly prefer positive comments about MS Flight there for some reason, surprised that one lasted Seriously. I've had some more thoughts about MS Flight recently, it was odd that all they showed upon official demonstrations was X Box 360 controllers ..and this in turn lead many to think it would be a dual PC/Xbox platform game too, there is a reason they did that, there is a reason everything happens ... but I don't think MS Flight will go to X-Box ... I think the reason MS Showed its new _PC game using just MS X-Box 360 game controllers is that's the only game controller they can sell

Not had too much time to fly there lately, but I bought the two South Ireland Gen X volumes with Cork airport too and did a quick fly from there (airports in both volumes too) to make sure they worked and also do a defrag because I don't have these on SSD's, but it looked quite nice, perhaps as not in your face as good as the latest South Scotland volume? perhaps the photography resolution was not the same? but definitely a big improvement over standard FSX scenery and add ons that seem to have been ignored in this area ... I hope we get a North Ireland one too in time. Are you from Ireland H

Yep, sort of ... it was my late Dad who was in the RAF and in his 21 year tour we lived at many RAF bases both in the UK and abroad for about 3 years each, in Germany my Dad was based at RAF Wildenrath that were flying the GR1 Harriers at the time but we lived off base in the German town of Geilenkirchen for about a year before getting accomodation at the nearby military base of Geilenkirchen ... was age 13 to 16 then and went to a shool called Kent in Hostert that was an ex military hospital for all the military brats ... hated that school but loved my teenage years in Germany.
