  1. looking very good, my Saitek trim wheel arrived Tuesday and I like it very much, just the right amount of resistance to wheel roll ... maybe something to look out for in your build Brian, I imagine it would be quite easy to add resistance to the wheel rotation behind the panel if needed though.
  2. Hi Needles, if you want the card I can send it out to you and you can pay me when you can. Cheers.
  3. My main concerns are ... Why did MS mislead us for so long with only scenery clips of Hawaii ... if they were upfront and honest about the arcade content from the beginning, why couldn't they have posted that at the start too? ... If they had showed at least one shot with golden hoops and treasure chache that the content its now become, they would at least be putting this sim out on honest ground and honest expectations. They mislead us from the start ... or they changed their minds halfway through the project ... AGAIN. Despite all the positive vibes the big A site puts forth, the future o
  4. I have not got a clue what MS division of Flight are doing right now? Not a clue and i don't think they know themselves ... its probably a big gamble for them? Divide and Conquer? When I first read the true report of what every Flight simmer on the planet thought would be a late successor to FSX, we all assumed it was an arcade cop out, guys on premier flight sim sights like the big A .... I'm scared to mention their name now because he has started lawyer sue speak against some members and has went on a banning spree for many who speak against Flight. I've not looked too much at Flight Sim.
  5. Cheers guys ... and sorry for using your thread again Needles ... but at least I've bumped it All I know is the Saitek trim wheel takes nine revolutions for what it does and its more real diameter will get better trim results and that's got to be more precise than the small trim wheel on the Saitek panel I already have. Hmmm, with the third party SPAD drivers for those panels or FSUIPC I might be able to use that wheel for rudder or aileron trim. I like your craftmanship Needles, look fwd to seeing your trim wheel.
  6. Thats a good point, Joe. I've just had a look at my online banking and my monthly direct debits ... I could easy shed a lot of that and still have a decent Sky package that is all I really use and put that towards a monthly Prepar3D subscription ... Flight Sim is a major hobby for me. I've not tried the PC Pilot offer of a free one month trial for Prepar3D, but its been grinding away at the edge of my thoughts for a while now ... I'm gonna do it soon. I've spent a fortune on Saitek hardware especially that only supports FSX ... I'm keen to see if this can be made to work with Prepar3D ... t
  7. LOL, not tasted mushy peas for ages .. Now I want to ... Yorkshire puds and roast beef w roast potato with mushy peas for my Sunday dinner me thinks! Dont forget "t" gravy too.
  8. I'm not sure how relevant this is to your problem, and my memory is a bit hazey about this, but one of the good things about FSX is it will support two separate sound device's ... IE: onboard sound + a dedicated soundcard, or dedicated or onboard sound + a USB sound device like USB headphones. I've never actually tried it myself but heard it can work if you dedicate voice to say the USB headset and have external sounds like engine ETC going through your speakers from the onboard sound or dedicated soundcard. It was probably meant for voice with VATSIM though ... I've never tried VATSIM, but
  9. I don't know you Alan as I'm fairly new here ... but best wishes and speedy recovery all the same.
  10. Aww, I'd have liked that too. WTG on the sale though Max
  11. Final price drop to £150 inc first class recorded to anywhere in the UK, Paypal or Bank Transfer, giving this a two week extension here before it really goes to ebay.
  12. Very reasonable pricing ... If I were not already good to go with Saitek LCD gauges I'd be giving this serious thought for instrument usage. It looks great
  13. Ordered the Saitek trimwheel from Flightstore today ... looking fwd to trying it out
  14. Heh ... I like Yorkshire, one of our family's RAF postings was to RAF Topcliffe in N Yorkshire ... another place of my history I'd like to go back and see for nostalgia! Its said that Yorkshire-men exaggerate a lot ... but I don't believe it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13JK5kChbRw
  15. It will be a pleasure! I'm really looking forward to doing the review as I too took a couple of holidays down in the Argyll area. It will be also interesting to see how Glasgow and Edinburgh look from the air. Cheers Thanks. Yep, I'm really looking forward to seeing Glasgow, Edinburgh as well as soon to be former RAF Leuchars in good detail too (I might omit installing the RAF Scotflight scenery for the base since it will be closing soon?) ... Dundee should make it into this package too I think? Once did a night flight from RAF Kinloss down to RAF Leuchars beside a pilot in a Piper Warri
  16. Its worth noting too that the FSX Acceleration add on pack adds more Aircraft Carrier content than the std FSX patched to SP2, you get the FA/18 Hornet as well that ACES outsourced to model for them that is pretty decent, not DCS hardcore avionic quality (That I suspect will be their next title ) but pretty good, the carrier landings and launches are quite exhilarating.
  17. Thought I'd share a few pics of my afore mentioned visit down to Campbletown and former RAF Machrihanish a couple of years back. My Sister had always talked about wanting to see part of her history, old house, old school ETC and even though I'd taken a Motorcycle trip down a good few years ago ... I wanted to go see it all again too ... took a ton of pics, but this is the gist of them. We hired a nice villa just south of Campbletown as a base and stayed a week with my nephews too, the weather is funny there ... really changeable ... an RAF Chinook crashed into the hillside of Kintyre with so
  18. LOL, just re-discovered this thread, glad you all liked it JF ... I wouldn't mind that cherry red SG ... I have a Fender Tex Mex Strat and one of the better Squire Stratocasters too that with some decent pick ups will be a real nice sounding guitar. I'd love to see one of those projection shows, there are a few on google now that look really spectacular ... about the best stadium conventional light show I ever saw was Pink Floyds set at Earls Court in 94 (Ithink it was) The Division Bell tour, I've always loved that band. AC/DC are big live faves of mine, seen them three times now, stopped
  19. Do me a favour Needles. when you get your review copy ... please do a buzz around the bottom southern part of the Argyll peninsula ... I'm going to pre-order from Flightstore in the next week while its still a bit cheaper than release day (estimated 10th Feb) but I'd love to see what you think of an area I know quite well. Cheers.
  20. RoF is a great sim Just a quick reminder though, the sale ends tomorrow (they have lots of sales though during the year) I'm up to date with all Aircraft with my Halberstadt pre order, not to sure about a lot of the field mods? I priced them all up once and with discount I could have got them for £25 ish ... But I'm happy with my RoF the way it is just now. As a side note, the nice thing about Rise of Flight if you own more than one PC and would like to try it on another or just like to back up with all your control settings ETC .. is that it does not deep registry install, once you have in
  21. Read on the Playsims forum that VFR Photo scenery Scotland South Vol 8 went to the printers for the DVD's a few days ago ... it will come on 7 dual layer DVD's and take up 55 GB hard disc space! http://www.playhoriz...t=4717&start=10 This is just one third of mainland Scotland too. I have all of England/Wales and the current two Island Volumes for Scotland and am contemplating the two South Ireland volumes this year too ... VFR is my thing I just hope the remaing two mainland Scotland volumes dont take forever to get released now, will be fun flying around my neck of the woods in phot
  22. I'd always wanted a good DSLR but figured I'd never get the most out of it, about this time last year I bought a new Fuji S2800HD, its a sort of cross between a DSLR and one of the smaller digital camera's, 14 mega pixel, 720 HD video ETC. http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/fujifilm_finepix_s2800hd_review/ I'm happy enough with it, if anything its a bit big for casual *slip it in your pocket when you go out* use, so I'm looking out for a good compact digital camera some soon too.
