Leg 57: Nairobi Wilson, HKNW - Jinha, HUJI

Recommended Posts

I said to Micke that I'd take any leg, and so he gave me another one with a restriction on it.

So off I went with the company credit card and rented something nice and big for this short trip. I'll let Micke explain the bill to Joe

Without too much trouble Sergei and Popov had got things started

2.jpg

I just needed to taxi out and take off, these engines are powerful

3.jpg

Tower gave us clearance to depart and the engines started to spool up

4.jpg

We were in the air long before the end of the runway

6.jpg

Flying over Nairobi as we circle the airport and climb out

7.jpg

At cruise level of 24,000ft

8.jpg

Nairobi covers quite a large area

9.jpg

Nice and peaceful up here, thankfully the weather is calm

10.jpg

It seems the area is losts of desert type area mingled in with forests and lakes

11.jpg

Making our first turn

12.jpg

The cockpit gives us a great view of everything around us

13.jpg

The external view is quite nice too

14.jpg

Charging ahead and eating up the miles, the throttles are bearly beyond 50% and the speed seems to keep increasing

15.jpg

I think 3 spare engines is enough should one of them conk out over the water

16.jpg

ATC are vectoring us is, we've had to make quite a wide arc as this thing doesn't turn too quickly. My eyes are peeled for the airport, which I am hoping to be large considering the restriction on this flight

Oh very funny Micke! I don't think dirt strips are meant for Bears

18.jpg

But with a bump and a bash this big old gal is wrestled down to earth. Micke will have some explaining to do when the repair bill comes in

Great stuff Rob..

As for the repairs bill, I accept no responsibility for it.. you really should check the charts for your destination prior to taking off you know  ;)

Besides, if anything of that size should be able to handle a dirt runway it have to be Russian, so the Bear should really have been a good pick  ;)

Nice flight Rob, a bear of a landing but you pulled it off. :thum:

I am rushing to get there as son as I can, not so much to keep the baton moving but I can't wait to see that baby leave. :D See you soon.
