FlightSim Show, 2015 Cosford. Official After Show Post!

Recommended Posts

I can only echo what others have said. It was a great show, and the feedback from members an non-members that stopped by the stand was great to hear (but like Bruce I did run in to one or two blokes bloke that didn't seem to understand why we would do all this work for free!!)

Hopefully some new members will turn up as a result of the show as well.

@Wayne: In hindsight I did reflect on the fact that it could have been you discussing the Trim Wheel with me, but at that point my poor brain was firing on even fewer cylinders than usual  :stars:  Hope you find your investments worth the money.. I had hoped to pick up a Saitek Multi Panel, but sadly the only stand selling Saitek Gear didn't have them in stock :(

@Christopher: I can fully understand your decision on picking up the Q400. After all Martyn did say it was a better purchase than "his" Tornado

A few more shots from the show as well. I only had my iPhone to work with, so apologies for the slight lack of focus on some of them ;)

Joe adding the final touches to the stand... must have some candy available...

02-The-stand-before-the-masses-hit.jpg

The whole stand in all it's glory.

03-Jess-arriving.jpg

Jess slept in and arrived later than the rest of us.. at this point she was a fairly happy girl, but that's because she still hadn't found out that the PC Pilot stand where she was working didn't have any electricity  :stars:

04-The-baton-on-show.jpg

The Baton made it over the atlantic from Arizona.. it will continue it's traveling around the world in the near future.

05-Members-and-future-members.jpg

Three current, and one future (?) member! Kevin, I was most impressed by how young E handled herself at the controls. You surely have her on the right track :thum:

06-45-minutes-in-to-the-show.jpg

45 minutes in to the show, and things started to pick up considerably.

Managed to sneak away to see the other exhibits as well.. If I was an Airbus freak with money to blow (and unlimited space for my flights sim gear) this is what I would be going for..

07-Airbus-overhead.jpg

Overhead...

08-Airbus-panel.jpg

..and main panel plus center console..   this version was from the company Vier im Pott and I think it would have cost somewhere in the region of £35000 including assembly  :stars:

09-OOM-a-thing-of-the-past.jpg

And to those that claim that OOM-errors are a thing of the past with P3D v3 I say "Humbug".... this is what happens when you try to bring up the GPS in the JF Chipmunk.. (but to be fair the program had been running non-stop for almost 10 hours at this point, with numerous changes of both aircraft and geographical location...)

10-Our-ride-home.jpg

Finally a photo of our ride home (at least for the Birmingham - Hamburg part of the trip). Note the luggage cart next to the plane.. that's where you have to deposit your larger pieces of "Carry on luggage" prior to boarding the CRJ900, so they can store it in a special compartment for the duration of the flight.....

I'm more impressed by the lens on your camera than your eyesight, because I assume this one is taken from the same location as the photo above it  ;)

My first visit to the show and it was very enjoyable and was a pleasure to meet you.

Hi Phil, it was great to meet you too, sorry we didn't get much time to chat but I'm pleased the show wasn't a disappointment!

Some great picture Micke, those iPhones aren't that bad. :D Thanks for posting.

Any members see themselves in the closeup pic's or in the crowd that want to identify themselves or give us clues to find you? :)

A little GoPro action from the show, courtesy of the guys with Buffalo Airways Virtual..

I think I spotted Brian drooling over a Wired2Fire setup in there...  ;)

There is a sneak peak of me talking to a guy called John next to the Airline2Sim stand at 2:50. I was talking to him for 15-20 minutes as we waited for the doors to open at 10 AM, and I bumped into him several times during the day. A nice guy to talk to, and I was able to help him with a couple of issues he was experiencing.

Hi Russ,

We are virtually neighbours, you should have given me a shout!

Next year we should make sure you get more exposure either on your own stand or on ours!

Thanks! You'll have to visit the office at some point too. :D

- Russ
