Captain Coffee 2,030
I have delayed picking up a SF scenery because nothing is nearly close to being Up to Date with SF's incredible pace of development over the last 5 years. The promise of "All Helipads in the area covered" finally sold me...plus the 25% discount. Overlooking the Willy Dome, SF city hall painted Black and Gold during Mayor Willie Brown's tenure there. Unfortunately, I haven't found any other Helipads so far...doh. (Edit: Found 2 more. There are two helipads in the city itself, and a pad on an "Icebreaker???" parked near Treasure Island...just in case of very inclement weather maybeeeee??? The winter SF bay freezes over is the winter I miss because I already left for the tropics...anyhoo...will be interesting to see if these get assigned as destinations for cargos via Airhauler once I update the scenery library in AH.) This is an area so completely out of date it is basically a Historical Image of Old SF. Ahead of the copter nowadays is a bunch of green glass fronted skyscrapers that would almost completely obscure the view of the freeway ahead. Note the "double bridge". I discovered that ORBx stuff needs a bit of adjusting to fix this. Based on my experience "moving files" during installation of Cielosims" KPAO, I found the file for the SFoakland bridge and moved it into a "saved scenery" file within ORBx's scenery location. Viola, One Bay Bridge: They did a nice job on some signature landmark buildings, here the Palace of Fine Arts from the SF World's Fair...and that factor makes flying around the city much more enjoyable than previous "random autogen" stuff. But ground textures are a bit weak in some areas...especially around Golden Gate Park...clearly difference in the ground textures vs autogen...and not sure if this is due to ORBx stuff conflicting or not.../shrug...something to research on Aerosoft's support I suppose. Overall though, I have to say that it is an improvement over Generic San Francisco, even the ORBx version just looks like CityGen, not SF Autogen. Hoping to improve this somewhat, but not disappointing with the scenery upgrade considering all factors. Barra from Dangerous Airports Vol-1: Only one shot from here...it isn't actually very hard to land here in the sim as tides and spongy sand isn't modeled. In fact the "runway" area is just a "wet looking sand skin" set on top of the land class...dirt kicks up.../shrug...not very dangerous actually. Pretty area though. There are two other fields in the set, but I didn't find one in the FSX airport list (the name Matekare...Matekane? wasn't suggesting anything) last night as it was getting late. And The American one is farked up totaly...a hung in the air field spanning two hill humps...definitely a conflict with other scenery. Not bothering with them till I get some support/advice. Lukla...it's own scenery and it installed just fine it appears without any adjustments needed. It is necessary to select "Lukla (addon)" from the FSX airport list...easy to remember as the stock Lukla has been renamed "Lukla, don't use this one" Huge upgrade to the surrounding mountainsides...awe inspiring views around here now. And...that's all folks. Cheers.Coff.

Captain Coffee 2,030
Yep...related to the OZx site being down. Hoping it comes back soon.
Corsaire31 419
I have the same problem, there is a warning at Flight Sim Store that they are moving to new servers this week and that they might me inaccessible at times.
Captain Coffee 2,030
Thanks for that update...I looked around and couldn't find any news regarding it...but only checked a few forums. I was worried it might be related to the OZx fund drive ( unsuccessful?)...but moving to new servers implies a good fund drive. /CHEERS! (I hope...).
Corsaire31 419
For me it's back online. The image hosting (fsfiles.org) is run by Flight Sim Store, the fund drive is going well and is for the OzX part (aussiex.org)

mutley 4,498
Thanks for the tour around SF, I have others in the US Cities X series and they have the same generic buildings too! I have Lukla as well and some good memories of ATWC III where we had a mini challenge TOTW (Top of the World) where I saved ddavid from all the back packers! http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/4428-totw05-jomsom-vnjs-lukla-vnlk2/ 5 years later and my flying hasn't really go much better! brett 2,316
Great shots Matt, the place looks a lot better. Do you have FTXVectors? If so you can try using the FTX Vector Configurator tool to change the elevation of that airport that is giving you trouble.
stu7708 244
Some great shots there, and if the Aerosoft rendition of Matekane is good you're in for a treat, very interesting field to land at, and take off will be more of a "dive for speed" than an actual take off. It's in Lesotho by the way. ICAO: FXME
