Nov 2015 - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Bridge Over Troubled Water

For our November competition we were inspired by the winning entry and we would like to see screen shots of something unusual going with a bridge involved.  Boats, stunts or just plain great scenery is the order of the day!

Please check out the new revised rules here http://forum.mutleys...ised-july-2015/

Also note, "Like" button is for general forum use but won't be considered in judging the competition.

Competition closes Nov 30th 2015 @ 23:59 UTC

Good luck!

Obviously, I have a penchant for collecting Odd Happenings Around Bridges thanks to my self appointed role as SF Bay Area Bridge Aerial Inspector...

This is a rare historic shot of what was called the San Francisco Experiment...an attempt to make an invisible helicopter using huge Capacitance/Magneto/Static generators slung from the struts to look like floats. It instead set off a resonant frequency within the atomic structure of the test bed chopper and confused the pilot's ability to control the craft, with this result...it fortunately flew completely through the pylon and landed safely. The goal of invisibility was never realized...and the project was abandoned. The pilot suffered from high iron levels in his blood stream ever after and died a few years later from complications related to hardened arteries. (groan)

Pic 2 Air France said it could be done, so they did it and showed the world how strong the Millau bridge is, by landing their AN 225 on it.

A couple of moody shots..

PA-28 over the Mackinac bridge in Michigan.

The bridge is thought, by some, to be to scary to cross so the Mackinac Bridge Authority has a Drivers Assistance Program that provides drivers who will take your vehicle across for you (presumably, while you close your eyes)

Thanks to everyone who took part, not as many entries as usual, but the undisputed winner is Dodgy Al's "Len Goodman on a trip to Wales.............Severn!"

Well done Al, you know the routine by now, please check your PM's  :thum:
