California Weather Bomb

Recommended Posts

Thanks for your concern. I float thankfully, but am worried if that Dam business upstrait>Delta>River from me busts in a big way, we might see some serious flooding down here along the top of the bay. I doubt the docks will rise above the concrete posts anchoring them...but...they have been getting to within 3 feet or so lately during our unusually high tides, which have been coming up over into our parking lots and local streets...shutting down some freeways along the marshlands here and there with the additional rainfall coming down from the hills.

Today is scattered light rains, but mostly sunny, with a rumored biggy system on the way in...we shall see. I filled my tanks, and did all the laundry. I plant to roast some extra coffee ahead of sched. to avoid colander flipping hot beans on the dock in the rain, and I should be set...power and internet willing.

Cheers from the marshes :salute:

yeah I echo the above, take care and be safe, all looks pretty bad on the news from this side of the pond......

If they were reporting a celebrity hangnail it would look like the end of the world. Caveat, I am NOT on the "Fake Media!" train that is trumpeting it's horn lately, but it pays to take the Skeptical Subway when watching the news these days. ;)

What has France to do with Sweden ?  And nothing like this happened in France either on Friday night ...

The fact there have been past terrorists attacks anywhere in the world doesn't make a lie become true. Or maybe it's just another of these "alternative facts" ? :D

Are you claiming there has not been rioting in Paris for about a week?

The fact there have been past terrorists attacks anywhere in the world doesn't make a lie become true. Or maybe it's just another of these "alternative facts" ? :D

The comment the President made about Sweden with reference to "Friday night..." was to a program, which aired on Friday night on Fox News, on the Tucker Carlson segment.  That program highlighted the problems caused by Sweden's immigration policies.  It featured a viral Facebook post by a Swedish police officer who is about to retire after a 47 year career.  Among other things, the Swedish police officer said...

“Here we go; this I’ve handled Monday-Friday this week: rape, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, rape-assault and rape, extortion, blackmail, off of, assault, violence against police, threats to police, drug crime, drugs, crime, felony, attempted murder, Rape again, extortion again and ill-treatment.

Suspected perpetrators; Ali Mohammed, mahmod, Mohammed, Mohammed Ali, again, again, again Christopher… what is it true. Yes a Swedish name snuck on the outskirts of a drug crime, Mohammed, Mahmod Ali, again and again.

Countries representing the weekly all crimes: Iraq, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Somalia, Syria again, Somalia, unknown, unknown country, Sweden. Half of the suspects, we can’t be sure because they don’t have any valid papers. Which in itself usually means that they’re lying about your nationality and identity.

Now we’re talking just örebro municipality. And these crimes occupies our utredningsförmåga to 100 %.

So it looks here and has been like for the past 10-15 years.”

The above is, as I understand it, translated from the Facebook post, which was in Swedish.

The program also stated...

"Malmo had 52 hand grenade attacks in 2016 alone, a jump from 48 attacks in 2015, according to figures provided by the Swedish Police Authority."

The President's reference to Friday night was to the Carlson program that highlighted the problems caused by immigrants in Sweden, not to a specific terrorist event, and he's said so, since the Saturday speech.

It does end there, I have no interest whatsoever in arguing about politics, there are many more important matters in life. :)

The only good thing is that it usually gives me a good laugh every morning reading the news and the comments on social networks. And I must admit I have almost as much fun these days with our candidates to the president elections in France as with your own president. :D

I just find the whole situation comical John.

I'm just going to reinterpret Joe's comment from my perspective:

I wish the situation was more funny, and less of a source of comedy. :(

Regrettably at times my brain is wired to spot play on words, and I use them often...sorry if I got the thread off onto the 'wrong weather track'.

Cheers.

Matt.

I guess the good news is that the drought is busted, for now.  California, from time to time has serious issues from both ends of the water spectrum - too little or too much.

Among the good news here, aside from the drought being broken, is that for now, the Oroville dam water level is 52' below overflow and stable.  Outflow is still a stunning 100,000 cubic feet per second (almost a million gallons a second). Obviously, some serious repairs are needed to allow the dam to function safely in the future if there's ever another rise to the overflow level.

Glad you're safe and doing well, Matt.  I guess there's comfort in living in a home that rises and falls with the water level.

I am glad you are safe Matt, at least from the weather. :whis:

Now we have a storm going through, 70 mph winds they say. I have lost a fence panel, opening up my back garden to the school behind my house, or more accurately, opening up the school to my dog!  It will be over tomorrow, and so I will be fixing the fence this weekend.

A consequence of living on a round planet, what comes around goes around. :D

Hang in there J.G. It will be blowing stink over here again this weekend, and regularly it seems.

Hopefully the flip in the weather should cheer you up whilst mending your fences, which is at least not experiencing quite as hysterical (Historical?) the weather as our side of the fence. ;)

(I'm not drawn to wrong, I just write this way ~Coff).

Hope we've all survived intact from these weather bombs. Here in the UK we can say we've had a Doris Day* but Que sera sera. (Pardon my French).

*Storm Doris as today's storm has been called.

I said to Kate. "It's days like this I wish we lived abroad."  She said, "I know, the weather is terrible." I said, "It's not that, your mother has just pulled up outside."
