This part of me was damaged in a highly famous accident. The pilots were originally blamed but were later given an award for their actions. After the accident I was repaired and returned to active duty. Who am I?

Looking for aircraft type, Airline, and lastly the name given to the aircraft after the accident. Bonus points if you know the current fate of the a/c in question. :D

It is indeed IL-2 - 1946 to be precise, which includes Pacific Fighters (that's the map it's on), the orginal game and various other bits'n'pieces, like German 'X' projects (Me-109Z, He-111Z, V tailed Me-262's and He-162's, Ta-183 and various other Russian jets)

I've actually seen one of these in a museum at the Lakeland FL airport. Oddly, Fantasy of Flight does not have one, unless it's in pieces back in a corner somewhere. It's a pretty big airplane but couldn't carry a heavy load - I think the radial engine was a little on the puny side.
