Dizzy 0
This part of me was damaged in a highly famous accident. The pilots were originally blamed but were later given an award for their actions. After the accident I was repaired and returned to active duty. Who am I? Looking for aircraft type, Airline, and lastly the name given to the aircraft after the accident. Bonus points if you know the current fate of the a/c in question.

allardjd 1,853
It's not IL-2, is it? I didn't think the Me-109Z was in the Pacific. John
hurricanemk1c 195
It is indeed IL-2 - 1946 to be precise, which includes Pacific Fighters (that's the map it's on), the orginal game and various other bits'n'pieces, like German 'X' projects (Me-109Z, He-111Z, V tailed Me-262's and He-162's, Ta-183 and various other Russian jets)
allardjd 1,853
I pixellated a number near the tail - Chuck probably has a catalog that will tell the middle name of the guy who painted it and what he had for lunch that day... John
hurricanemk1c 195
Found it - but all I'll tell you is that it was a P.8 and Canada had lots still in service until the 1960's. And that guy - he got paint all over his hands.......
hurricanemk1c 195
No one - well it's a Westland Lysander - company designated P.8. Looks like in pre-war colours
allardjd 1,853
Exactly right, of course, Chuck. Your turn. I've actually seen one of these in a museum at the Lakeland FL airport. Oddly, Fantasy of Flight does not have one, unless it's in pieces back in a corner somewhere. It's a pretty big airplane but couldn't carry a heavy load - I think the radial engine was a little on the puny side. John
