dodgy-alan 1,587
Oh well, Here we go again, Going back into hospital in a couple of hours time, at least for the weekend, possibly longer. They want to shove an IV line in to get rid of the fluid on my lungs and sort out the breathing problems ! From what I gather breathing is deemed somewhat important so I guess I,d better go ! Just packing a case and having dinner before I set off. See you all again soon. bye bye for now.
allardjd 1,853
Best of luck with that. Are you laptop equipped and is internet available there? John

dodgy-alan 1,587
Thanks for all the messages guys, Maries bought the laptop up so I can still annoy you all !! I could be here for a few more days yet but one never really knows. The food here is excellent though and a hell of a lot better than the stuff at Southampton General. For some reason though this hospital does seem to like serving pea soup of various colours ! I do not indulge in that at all. apart from that I have no complaints at all. St Richards is a great hospital and I defy any government department that keeps trying to close it down on cost cutting grounds. So far its safe, but they keep on trying !! If it wasnt for this hospital I wouldnt be alive today. 10 years ago when I had my heart attack the surgeons at St Richards saved my life and for that I am eternally gratefull. stu7708 244
Glad to hear you're in good spirits despite your problems Alan. I guess governement involvment and budget cuts is the big downside to publicly funded health care...

mutley 4,498
I've just spoken to Alan (In his hospital bed) who sounds in great spirits, only problem is he hasn't got flight sim on the laptop but I am sure he is researching the next obscure aircraft! I know you're watching Alan, so get well soon mate Cheers, Joe
britfrog 180
Alan, I wish you well , i had a friend with the same problem some years ago, i think what you are about to undergo can lightly described as somewhat uncomfortable, I do not envy you, however if it allows you to still fog a mirror when it is placed under your nose ( a basic requirement to be a pilot) then once must grin and bear it, chin up! Tim_A 997
Stay away from the pea soup if it's green --- they make it from bogeys.
mike H 456
Thanks for the update Joe. It's great to hear that Alan is in good spirits. Alan if you are reading this why not ask your wife to bring in your fs9 disks + joystick as trying to fly using the key pad alone is ok if all you want to do is crash. PS maybe crashing could be the next Mutley's screen shot comp. and you would have a head start. All the very best Matey you take care. Kind regards mike H
dodgy-alan 1,587
Thanks guys, the messages have certainly made me chuckle. I am apparently being sent home tomorrow once I,ve had a nerve conductivity test done by the neurosurgeons. Thats the theory anyway ! The downside is that I have got to cut down permanently on fluid intake as this is causing problems, I,m not talking alcohol here, ( I rarely drink) but things like tea, coffee even water ! Since I drink my tea half a pint at a time normally this will be difficult ! apparently I have to cut down on salt and certain foods as well. The reason for this is that my heart is actually pumping 25-30% less than what it should be! however the heart beat rate has increased slightly and the pump cant keep up ! ( a bit like the clutch slipping on your car when you accelerate I guess). They have given me tablets to slow the heart beat down but the pump speed will never get better. I can only think that the next time it goes wrong we'll be looking at a transplant. The food here is very good, (especially compared to Southampton General where everything is served steamed and in a puddle of water !)the staff are superb and I cannot fault them. I will be glad to get home though and I have a few plans for new posts !! once again many thanks for your good wishes. Alan.
