Well... you could do that, but that's not much fun... And what if the GPS fails? Manual navigation is actually quite challenging, and very rewarding once you get it right. Nothing like navigating VOR to VOR in zero vis from takeoff to touchdown (after couping to an ILS at destination) and clearing the clouds just feet from touchdown and seeing that runway appear right where it should be. That thrill beats GPS navigation any day of the year1 point
