  1. My little Dinky Toys one from the 1960s. I was given it as a birthday present as a child and kept it ever since. A few years ago I repainted in almost the same colours as when it came out of the box! One pic shows it with a Beech Baron that got a more radical makeover.
  2. This explains it better than I can. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-tail https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/19135/what-are-the-advantages-and-disadvantages-of-ruddervators
  3. Butterfly tails are strange things, they work normally as elevators, but to turn the aircraft needs to roll into the turn and the upward pointing fin then acts as a rudder, at least that's how I've always understood it. All aircraft configured this way can get a built squirrely in certain conditions hence Beech introducing the conventional tailed version of this aircraft. However there have been other successful aircraft that stuck with it and overcame the problems. Probably the most well known being the Fouga Magister jet trainer.
  4. I tried to teach my ex to drive on the Enstone runway, Had all the co-ordination of a log! A 24 point turn and she still went off the runway! In the early 80s it was also the scene of my very first forced landing when I was learning to fly Microlights. I was in a two seater that had an engine failure on take off and we came down into a farmers cornfield! Farmer wasn't best pleased and told us in no uncertain terms to "get that fu**in airplane out of my field!" Turned out the cause of the engine problem was a bit of Corn chaff stuck in the carburettor! As my instructor said, it's his own fault
  5. Hey Guys, does anyone know if there is a scenery add on for RAF Brize Norton. I used to have a pretty decent one in FS9 but cannot find one for FSX. The default one is woefully inadequate and looks nothing like the real airfield which is Britain's main RAF transport hub and is a really busy and large base. https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/stations/raf-brize-norton/
  6. "Bimble" A leisurely pleasurable journey. Took one of the Super Cubs up from Enstone and went south over Oxford before turning west and landing at a convenient airfield.(though I forgot to make a note of which one it was! ) Thanks for viewing
  7. Cohon, ( a large box like percussion instrument)

  9. Great story Joe, two of my favourite aircraft as well, the Lizzie and the Cub.
  10. Thanks Brett, Have just ordered it. My interest was piqued due to the fact that we now have a Lysander replica at the nearby Tangmere Aircraft Museum. and real beauty she is too. I did have one in FS9 but that was some years ago. Hopefully this one will work just fine. https://www.tangmere-museum.org.uk/museum-aircraft/westland-lysander-mk-iii-scw
  11. Been looking around for a Lizzie for FSX.Apparently in 2010 Mutleys reviewed such a beast but I've never come across it. Does anyone have a copy please. Thanks, Al. https://mutleyshangar.com/reviews/joe/lysander/lso.htm
  12. De clutter of tiny feets!............Must be Leprechauns!
  13. Two translators were on the Titanic, when she went down one said to the other "Can you swim?" to which the other replied, "No, but I can call for help in 27 languages!"
  14. It's a lovely aircraft to fly. Often overlooked due to the Lancaster taking all the credits. Yet a very important aircraft in WW2. Well caught.
  15. I think it's something to do with that bloke tucked behind the rear seats! I bet he's pulled a few wires out!
