  1. Given MS's announcement that they are taking back control of FSX, then I guess 2020 will be a development of this. It would certainly explain the short time between announcement and release deadline. It might mean that P3D becomes a blind alley. If the mass market way ahead is MS FS2020 then Lockheed may stop supporting the £50 version that amounts to a mass market version of P3D.
  2. Ok, so far I have four cockpit parts to integrate into Xplane. I use Mobi-flight software and the Xplane version of FSUIPC to achieve connection and control. I have: A landing gear leaver, installed and working. It uses a simple program switch to detect the leaver movement and commence the movement of the gear. The Tornado has LEDs in the handle which flash whilst the gear is moving. These seem to work well on 12 volts and so I use a relay and 12v supply to light the LEDs and FSUIPC offsets to control the relay. To achieve the flashing for the LEDs I simply put a car indicator
  3. Wow thanks for all your effort John, It looks like just what I need. I have bought a 4 channel card as I need to control 3 trim states, only about six quid - peanuts. I also saw that the output was bi-directional, important for left/right trim, it looks just fantastic. I will add a topic that will chart my progress wit these things if anyone is interested. Thanks again John, you're a star. J.
  4. I have recently bought some Panavia Tornado parts and I am trying to use them with my FS. Tornado gauges are all electrically powered and are therefore very suitable for this task. I use a 5v Arduino board to control them. So far I have: An undercarriage leaver which is easy to install as it is basically a switch. However it has some LEDs in the handle which flash while the gear is traveling. Getting this to work was achieved with a relay to switch on the required 12v supply to the LEDs which was passed through a car indicator flasher unit and by using the appropriate FSUIPC offset t
  5. Given the above, I think what we have seen so far has been,...Shall we say helped along with some artistic tools.
  6. Being across the pond you wont have seen the Vulcan Bomber flying. It is so loud that your ears cant cope with the noise and all the cars with alarms in the carpark at the runways end had them going off. Sadly now a thing of the past.
  7. I hope they do room service. I wouldn't want to waste time by leaving the room foe even a moment!
  8. What else would we need? Coffee & Biscuits? …….. I'll get my coat.
  9. I was at RIAT over the weekend and enjoyed the F-18 display, a truly awesome aircraft. Personally I preferred the Eurofighter Typhoon display as it showed off the aircrafts amazing agility. Its turn radius is so impressive and every aspect of its display seemed smooth and effortless. Another impressive aircraft was the A400M. Its take-off was just unbelievable. There was a collective intake of breath as the aircraft slowly climbed vertically off the runway, the crowd all thinking the same thing: "That can't happen, its going to crash! " But happen it did and crash it didn't. One
  10. All of the above except the DCS world bit (replace with X-Plane 11 military capabilities) and...…. Better FPS for an average spec PC Backward compatibility with FSX/P3D aircraft addons
  11. So let's get this clear. Using mouse and the 3D cockpit works fine. Using the Saitek throttle is the issue. You have the Saitek throttle plugged into the yoke but it also dosent work if you plug it into its own USB port. Have I got this correct? What software are you using with the throttle? Saiteks own or FSUIPC? If the above is correct it would seem likely to be a software set-up issue. Dirt in the throttle can be an issue but it usually manifests itself with a jittery throttle and not an all or nothing issue which, if I have it correct, seems to be the case here. Try r
  12. Welcome to X-Plane! I moved from P3D at the beginning of the year and I am a total convert. You will find, down your voyage of discovery, that X-Plane 11 is a very flexible and reliable platform. I have been adding and amending my install of X-Plane including software addons and hardware add ons (both commercial and home built - I currently use a real Tornado GR1 undercarriage lever in my sim) without any major issues. It's true to say I have had a couple of crashes but not while flying and always fixable quickly, and without having to get clues from the interweb. The platf
  13. Interesting post John. What happened to items of value? I pay what I think is a fair price for an item I expect to receive value for money. Even siting 'caveat emptor' which applies to most purchases at the time of purchasing, if I receive a product that I consider good value, I don't expect the seller to suddenly want the Item back without making it clear at the outset that there is a limited period for which I can have the product or without issuing a refund. I haven't used Microsoft, but I do have a couple of hundred Audible books and a similar number of Kindle books. All a
  14. The MS statement is encouraging. I suppose that technically there is a gap in the market as P3D is licenced on a flying student basis, although that make me a student for flying an aircraft that is no longer in service and costs many of millions of quid, which puts a lie to that. It will be interested to see if aircraft designed for P3D will work with the new sim. If they do then perhaps they are working with LM to produce a true mass market licenced of the FSX/P3D product.

    Close?

It was close enough to see clearly it was an Alitalia aircraft. I have never seen anything so close before.
  16. I won't even look at it [unless there is a free demo]. I have spent enough on FSX/P3D and lately X-Plane 11 to be able to start using another sim. I am open to new sims, my switch to X-Plane is testament to that. But I only changed to it as P3D/FSX was too unreliable. It was a case of desperation driving me to try something else that prompted me to do so. I am glad I did, but I am having to limit my spending on it, I now limit it to RAF Aircraft with a maximum of two engines.
