For information : I am part of the organisation of the french speaking Sailaway community. The goal is mainly to organize long races at the same time as the real ones and federate french speaking skippers. But we are open to the world , I'm in charge of translations and communications. We are working closely with the editor of the game. I'm also organiser and Race Committee for speed records. We have in our ranks already quite a few FSX/P3D pilots, so it might interest some more. We organise on Sunday 18th 13:00 UTC the Mini Fastnet with 6.50m monotypes "Min

Ideally, neither of them... I'm out .... I didn't start it ! -
I understand. For information, you don't have to go through Steam, you can buy the game directly from the Sailaway website if I remember. I went thru Steam because I already have a lot of games there.

I warned you it was an early access, we are working with the dev ( very receptive ) to finish the software. It will take at least 6 months before official release. Last update introduced surfing on waves and wind shadow on other boats. Instead of clicking spots I prefer to use Q and E keys to go through the different ropes. You can also setup with a Xbox type controller. In the meantime we are already organizing long races. They are more about tactic and strategy than trimming the boat, we are on autopilot ( bearing or wind angle ) most of the time. ( same as in rea

I can confirm sailors understand faster flying and navigation...

Funny, I'm looking forward to my tour of NZ planned for this winter ( this summer over there ...)

Stage 3 : Bella Bella to Thumb Harbour Part 3 Even good company must part at some point, and it is time to fly further. The lake is barely long enough for take off ( with Accu-Feel sticking to the water ) but luckily the lake is like a swiming pool with overflow and we can dive into the valley. There are some low clouds stuck in the fjord, but our destination is just there on the right : I only need to go down slowly following the buoys : Land on the water ( always sound strange, land and water...) and float

I agree, this is a great one, March ! LMAO ! -
After years of WW2 submarine warfare with Silent Hunter 3 and 4, I'm jumping in the 20th century with Cold Waters from Killerfish games ( Atlantic Fleet ), an easy / realistic sub sim. Several classes of US subs between 1968 and 1984, single missions and 2 campaigns. Surely more to come as it seems modding friendly. On Steam.

It is the entire world and you can sail around it. Plse note this is very early access and the coasts are still land masses.

Hey March, glad you're coming around, hope you'll have time for a glass or two ! You know I've been sailor and skipper on racing boats for 30 years and been teaching this sort of things, but thanks anyway ...

Yes you can have freeware or payware boats, I got mine at Deltasim Studios ( not sure if they are P3D friendly ). In the freeware forums like Avsim, you can find some more. At RTMM you can find special boat trips in PFJ and Tongass with starting coordinates, map and trip ticket.

Stage 3 : Bella Bella to Thumb Harbour Part 2 Taking off again from Ocean Falls, we climb to the upper story and follow the river until we can spot Tremadoc Lake : I keep going slowly down in a very narrow valley : On finals we fly past the log cabin on our right : Once on the water, I just need to float back to pay a visit to the local people : .../...

On this old cruiser there is no working traveller and a fixed backstay and genoa lead cars. It's kinda dummy boat for beginners, but you have 3 sails in front (genoa, jib and N°4) and 3 reefs in the main, but nothing much you can use to open the top of the sails except the halyard ... The mini transat being a race boat has everything you need to play with the shape of the sails, and also the 38 ' cruiser has most of it,outhaul, cunningham, backstay, travellers and carts.

A man walks into a bar with a crocodile on a leash. He puts the crocodile on the bar and says : " I bet 10 bucks with anyone in here that I can put my sexual attributes inside this croc's mouth without any harm !" Many people take the bet just to watch. The man pulls his pants down, and does what he said he would do... After a few seconds, he grabs a beer bottle and hits the crocodile on its head, the crocodile opens its mouth, the man shows around there is no harm and puts his pants back on. A lot of applause in the bar, and quite a few dollars come his way... -
A nice sunset tonight in the caribbean trade winds...

There is a catamaran in the works now, but I don't know which type. I have a nice one in FSX with TV and everything on board, I will show it probably in the Tongass fjords... Also just installed a set of carbon sails on my Mini Transat racer...
-
Hi March, glad to hear from you !

It's your choice, I play it safe and choose to have the game adjust the type of sails and their trimming while I'm away... this way I can choose a bearing autopilot knowing the crew will adjust the sails while I'm resting. Going downwind I prefer using the wind angle AP to keep the boat moving at the best speed. For the moment it's not possible to create user races, you can only participate in the organized races, but it's a feature on the to-do list. In the meantime you can always compete separately on the same course racing against time. For the Transpac, I will wait until faste

Or at people who might want to spend more of their time just flying than downloading stuff, installing it, tweak it for hours, seeing it doesn't work, go to forums to get some help and finally manage to get it to work until they try to install other addons... Sometimes I love my PS4 ...
