-
Sch-yeah - of course, you've been there! Not Fair... :boohoo: Cheers - Dai. P.S. The scenery's from here - well done, mate!
-
Found some interesting scenery, today - well, possibly more interesting for some: Now, I wonder if you'll guess where it is?!? Cheers - Dai.
-

Well, after a dysmal attempt to repair an old joystick, I took Jack's advice and went for the OpenCockpits Analogue Axes Card. After a bit of a wait, the pack arrived yesterday, so I thought I'd link it up with the X-Y potentiometers on the joystcick. Had a bit of trouble sorting the little plugs out (The air was blue! - Ed), but finally got the crimping tool to work: Holding my breath, I plugged the USB cable into the card and then the PC. Windows 7 downloaded the software from OpenCockpits and proceeded to install the driver. Started up FSX and, to my amazement, the joystick was 'live'. C

Nice scenery - reminds me of Gen-X Version 1, particularly North Wales and the Lake District mountains. I guess I'm too used to Treescapes now, though - I do miss the foliage! Thanks for sharing, Joe - maybe Darren's got some gorse and heather up his sleeve?!? Cheers - Dai.

A big "Hi" to Finn ('finndo'), who has joined us from Narsarsuaq - Welcome to the Hangar, mate! Finn has been working on the coastline and lakes for the flightsim.gl BGBW Narsarsuaq scenery - here's a screenshot of the coastal approach to Eriksfjord: Nice work, Finn! Cheers - Dai.
-
How's about the North American F-82 Twin Mustang: More info here Still holds several world records after 60 years! Cheers - Dai.
-
Yep - Ulrik and his flightsim.gl buddies are doing a fine job - the mesh is based on satellite data, I think, and it's landclass and not photo-scenery, so you get the seasons care of FSX. I'll post some more screenshots over the weekend... Cheers - Dai.
-
Well, as this is the twelfth post on this selfsame topic, can I unselfishly request that we put it back on the ... shelf? Cheers - Dai. :not-quite-feeling-himself:

The Narsarsuaq scenery is now in beta testing - here are a couple of screenshots - approaching BGBW from Eriksfjord: and a spectacular sunset over Tasermuit Fjord: More to follow - hope you like the preview! Cheers - Dai.

Wo sind meine Steigeisen, hein?!? Looks good for Euros 13 - but I'm not sure about the interface with the default land-class/mesh... Cheers - Dai.

Get hold of some back copies of PC Pilot - that's a start... Cheers - Dai.

Jet Crashes in Russia, Reportedly Killing 40

It appears, from here that ... ... In a catastrophic sequence of events, officials said the plane appeared to have hit a power line as it circled the airport in the bad weather, triggering a power cut which switched off runway lighting. That must have been the final straw, eh? Cheers - Dai. -
No question about pedals - go for it. Without them you can't fly rotor-craft or practice cross-wind landings, amongst other techniques! Cheers - Dai.
-
Graham (?) - you can download the Ieuan-Air Do228 texture from here Let me know if there's a problem - who knows?!? Cheers - Dai.
-
I guess you've read Gerald Seymour's book "The Unknown Soldier"? Well worth it... Love the carrier landing - quite innovative! Cheers - Dai.
-
Strangely cool! Glad you got the scenery sorted - I'm still waiting for the V3 disc update, so I haven't had all that bother - yet!?! Let me know if you want the Ieuan-Air textures... Cheers - Dai.
-
I'm glad our fields aren't as bushy as that! Here's a ref with pictures http://media.sacbee.com/smedia/2011/06/19/04/00/245-1aRibf.Em.55.jpg Still, they did get out O.K. Cheers - Dai.

Many of you won't know that the Welsh Assembly, Bless them, have been subsidising the air link between Anglesey and Cardiff for the benefit of those representatives who live in North Wales. Although the actual carrier is Manx Airlines, based in the Isle of Man, all of us in Wales refer to this service as Ieuan Air after the Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones, who is the MEP for Ynis Mon. Anyway, here's Manx Airlines' Dornier-228, in the Ieuan Air livery, climbing out of Valley en-route to Caerdydd... More to follow (No escape! - Ed). Cheers - Dai.

Ouch, John - that is a neat piece of work! Thanks for your time and trouble. I've been meaning to have a go at BGLAnalyz for some time, but until now haven't had the 'bottle' to do it - excellent... Cheers - Dai. -
Hi Ulrik - thanks for letting us know how Narsarsuaq X is going! You can tell that we're looking forward to using the scenery when it's available and many thanks for providing the sim community with such a great freeware product! Cheers - Dai.
