Posted this on the P3D forum and got an reply saying it'll be fixed in the next update but unclear if that update is for v3.4 or v4 -
Stop the default scenario on restart/crash

But apparently this is not the expected behaviour: Is any one else having this issue? -

Stop the default scenario on restart/crash
OzWookiee replied to OzWookiee's topic in Prepar3D Series
So I went back and had another crack last night and did as suggested, create my scenario, save it and fly. I overstressed the engines again (well the AP did at any rate) and so the scenario "crashed" to which, rather than loading the saved scenario, loaded again the default. It's even quite a fresh install with only three planes and ORBX Australia loaded. Going to document all my steps tonight and go through systematically and try to find a way to make it "behave". Working as the technical manager for a web software company, I'm well acquainted with bug testing and documentation so -
Stop the default scenario on restart/crash
OzWookiee replied to OzWookiee's topic in Prepar3D Series
Looks like it was reported in April last year: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=118047 and a dev (Mike) apparently filed a bug report. Anyone with v4 have this issue? -

Have posted on AVSim as well (https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/512912-stop-the-default-scenario-on-restartcrash/#comment-3648734) so hopefully someone knows something. -

Hey Andrew, you're bang on right that P3D can save scenarios and if that's the "fix" then I'll just have to get into that habit. Though if I just want to noodle around and try things then it's just one more thing I have to remember. I've been VERY spoiled with X-Plane... -

I'm guessing if it hasn't happened yet, it's not going to How do you P3D'ers deal with it or is it something of a minor convenience once you're more familiar with the aircraft/system? -
DHC-2 Beaver [unofficial] New Zealand Air Rally 2016
OzWookiee replied to OzWookiee's topic in Flight Sim Adventures
Now that I've finished the GAAR in a C-17 we're back to flying the lovely DHC-2 Beaver again. I certainly learned a lot from the GAAR and hopefully you can see that in this post. NZAR 2016 Leg Two New Plymouth NZNP to Karamea 164 NM After reflying the first leg after a disasterous engine fire, I first checked the winds for today's flight and since they're 015 for 5Kn we'll depart using runway 05 and then turning left onto our heading of 195 across open water towards the South Isle, passing near to our alternate Takaka NZTK, over the hills to descend into Kara -
Stop the default scenario on restart/crash
OzWookiee replied to OzWookiee's topic in Prepar3D Series
Right well.. Guess I'm staying with X-Plane solely then. Pity. -
OK guys, I've given P3D a few goes but what has driven me NUTS is that instead of restarting the current scenario, P3D in its infinite wisdom reloads the default scenario. Every. Damn. Time. So much so that I've rage quite each time lol! I even got a couple birds I would like to fly but just cannot get past this road block. Yes I could turn off the crashes and such but I want to fly as "real" as possible.

Quite possibly the hardest thing is finding a decent source for the orthophotos. The system does allow for some automatic adjustment based on levels in a config and that's my next advanced thing to investigate. -

Yea that's actually on my list (http://store-x-plane-org.3dcartstores.com/Sikorsky-SH-3-Sea-King_p_275.html), but budget being what it is, this is a freeware mod. LOVE the X-Plane community, payware quality for freeware! Will get a few Helo's eventually. The gold standard in XP at the moment is the Bell 407 (http://store-x-plane-org.3dcartstores.com/Bell-407-XP11_p_620.html) -

Crap, I'm still trying to figure out how to fly these whirly bird things! (Took me all afternoon) -
OK just a quick example from a long form post I'm working on. These shots of Mt Taranaki were taken just outside of New Plymouth NZNP in X-Plane 11 and show the difference between default, NZ Pro mesh/overlay and what Ortho4XP can do with custom DEM files for the mesh. I flew out from New Plymouth, over the ridge and turned right to circle back around. Saved the replay and then came back into the sim after: Disabling all add-ons (Default XP) Enabled only the AlPilotX NZ Pro Mesh and Overlay Enabled the Ortho4XP tiles and overlay I tried to timestamp each shot so th

[Unofficial] Flying the 2016 GAAR in a C-17 Globemaster III
OzWookiee replied to OzWookiee's topic in Flight Sim Adventures
After several attempts I finally managed to get my flight plan loaded. I was trying to be too tricky and foofed it the first time and had to redo the flight halfway through! Going to attempt some VNAV and descent planning with this final course and am heading up to FL230 for 300Kn. Got the AP set for my first transition. Taxing to the Rwy 33, I thought I'd do a flyby over the city rather than just head straight out. Top of the Hill there is what amounts to Rockhampton's Lovers Lane/Lookout. Quite a few nights heading up the "mountain" in the o -

All good things... GAAR 2016 Leg 10.1 Rockhampton YBRK to Hervey Bay YHBA As this is the last leg of the 2016 GAAR, this will probably be my last post to this thread. It's been an interesting journey and there are been many things learned and thrown out the window during it. Before I get going though, I did say that I would head down to Yeppoon for a couple of days, well instead of hiring a car I found something in the back of the C-17 labelled: "From Q, with love." Huh. But it did fire up nicely and had great windows for my little trip to the sea. -

GAAR 2016 Leg 08-09 Longreach YLRE to Emerald YEML to Rockhampton YBRK Since I was combining two legs I thought I'd set this up as per the Leg 09 directions so we are still departing on 22nd Feb but at 1800 instead of 1130 for Leg 08. Due to technical failures of a certain tug (pics below), I actually had to restart this flight twice. The first time I set the weather as per the GAAR, the second time I just used the real-life(tm) weather. I did eventually manage to find the coffee I went in search of and was well prepared for our evening flight to Rockhampton. Here we
