  1. I've now completed the legs from YMTI - YNTN, YNTN - YJLC and YJLC - YLRE and will post them up tonight. Sooooo good to be back home
  2. Knowing that the C-17 is MORE than capable of taking off and landing on short runways I went back to YNGU to set the record straight. After checking the weights and balances it seems that be default it loads with a full cargo load. Dropping all of the cargo we go a MUCH better result (unsurprisingly). It only took half the runway to reach our Vr of 115Kn And we climbed out beautifully too. OK Lets try with a half load of cargo at 87,478Lbs. A nice Vr of 128Kn and we take of 3/4 down the runway. You beauty! Thinking I
  3. Touchdown at YBCS Cairns International in a F-19 Stealth Fighter from VSkyLabs (https://sellfy.com/p/pNB7/). Hmmm... Didn't know they had any SR-71's stationed in Carins...
  4. WOOHOO!! Now to post all my PIREPS whilst the site was down
  5. Yup. It's the very reason why I picked her to fly. That and the absurdity of a bloody great hoofa of a Military Transport doing these tiny trips to remote airstrips. Lol
  6. The rest of the Legs will be in a single journal post:
  7. Due to the sheer size and speed of the C-17, as I said in the last post, I'm not doing each leg one at a time but instead I'm joining 2 legs together to get something more interesting for Big Bird. And since all of these are meant to be learning runs, this time I thought I might program the FMC. Unfortunately the C-17 Globemaster III from Virtavia was made for X-Plane 10.10 and so I've had to take her into Plane Maker to update a couple of things. First I found those annoying flying pieces of geometry (engine struts) and I was able to mark them as invisible, but in addition to that XP11 does n
  8. So before I knew about this section of the forum and how other people are chronicalling there adventures, I started the first part of this thread here: [unofficial] GAAR 2016 Leg 01 However now I (think) I understand how this works, I'm going to chronicle my adventures in a single thread per area. This one for the 2016 GAAR another for the NZAR 2016 etc. Anyway, go read the first part if you haven't already and I'll get on with the next part of the journey.
  9. Just announced @brett http://milviz.com/flight/products/DHC2/index.php
  10. Well.... Come over to X-Plane and you can! And its on special at the moment
  11. After picking up the SoulMadeSim DHC-2 Beaver on the Daily Deal yesterday (http://store.x-plane.org/DHC-2-Beaver_p_395.html) I thought I might use that to complete the New Zealand Air Rally 2016 by Bluegrass Airlines. Unlike the GAAR 2016 I'm going to do this one "in theme" (which I'm sure @Andrew Godden will appreciate, assuming he was the flight coordinator). My quick flight this morning taught me that I have a LOT to learn about these older systems, which is GREAT because that's what I'm using these rally's for! Another thing that I found out was that the Beaver do
  12. Thanks for bringing the house back online. Enjoy your G&T
  13. Haha well your going to see quite a bit more! info love military transports
  14. Ahhhh I'm so torn with P3D. Having started with X-Plane and its amazing freeware community (hello xchecklist, Ortho4XP etc) to now find that if I want to do anything outside of the box for P3D I have to reach into my wallet... And they've just announced v4...
  15. Because I enjoy a lot of different games I actually run the following equipment (ALL THE BUTTONS!!): X52-Pro HOTAS Logitech G29 Racing wheel and pedals Logitech G27 Shifter (standalone adapter) Mouse with approx 10 buttons The steering wheel has a mess of buttons on it so I use that for a lot of the autopilot buttons like heading hold, vs, alt hold, etc. The shifter paddels I have mapped to moving the camera back or forward to I can fine tune my view. The accelerator and brake axis are mapped to a single axis and I use that for rudder pedals. The G27 Shi
  16. Ok well this is quite apropo considering today's announcement and the several hours I spent last night properly configuring the multi monitor setup in P3D O.o
  17. So do they do Upgrade versions? Or will I need to buy P3D again?
  18. 50% off REX software at the moment.. Just sayin....
  19. Ended up getting REX4(SC) for P3D and have (after several hours) finally gotten the triple monitors setup right so might do a leg of the GAAR in p3d
  20. Ok thanks @brettI might look at those when I do the NZ trip. I will say that even though its a very modern bird she poses her own challenges for these flights as she was designed to fly the entire route in one go rather than all of these little hops so I don't feel like I'm actually missing out on anything as I am very quickly learning about descent planning and shedding enough speed to land.
  21. Hmm might have to bite the bullet and get some more orbx whilst they're on sale for P3D. It just hurts I have to pay for that stuff when we have Ortho4XP and XP11... I did manage to grab REX for FSX: SE, can I use that with P3D?
  22. Nice one Cp'n! Are the cruise ships from a plugin?
