  6. Love the history - love the repaints!
  7. Don't forget John - FHAW was, for a day or two, the busiest airport in the world, when those Victors, Vulcans, C-130's, copters and the like landed......

  9. Thanks folks @Max - these were taken at RAF Fairford during the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), these taken on the 8th of July this year. The website is here - http://www.airtattoo.com/
  10. Would be even nicer with orginal engines - but superb shots!
  11. I know - it'll be a B-17! Great repaints Jankees!
  12. Ah - C-17 later, A400M in a few posts as it was both static and flying, and another big transport, along with a VC-10
  13. Hi all! Here is the first part of what will be a monster posting series - RIAT 2012. I'll split it into a few parts. This year's theme was 'Skylift', showcasing some impressive transports from all over the world, including Columbia and Japan We start with this MV-22B, 166689, of the US Marine Corps T-317 is a Swiss Air Force AS332M-1 Super Puma Here is a Polish CASA C-295M (011) Hungarian Air Force Antonv An-26 603 Transall C-160D 51+15 This is an Italian Air Force Alenia C-27J Spartan (a little Herky Bird) MM62250 - a similar example won two awards in last year's show A
  14. Nice review Rob - I'll agree that the take-off sound is one of the best - sounds just right!
  15. Never thought about it Brett! It was named without ceremony on 6/11/91, nameplates noted off the loco 7/10/96 (Day, Month, Year). Bought by the South Devon Diesel Group in 2005, restored with nameplates and is now 'doing the circuits'
  16. Ahh - good old '37' - thanks for posting James! I remember that we went to Wales twice (once a day trip and once for a week), just to travel behind those 37's on Rhymney runs. If I remember rightly, 37402 decided to fail at this little statin on a Fishguard run and we all pilled onto a '158' at this little request stop! Good times! The coaches there were used at one point for Leeds-Carlisle runs, of which I did one way Leeds-Carlisle, then had another failure, this time a '87' at Preston, of which we swapped nice, comfy Mark3's for a Pendolino!
  17. Hi all! Here's the next lot of pictures, this time from the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire. First off, D5401 aka 27056 powering away with the train Now then, this 'thing' caught our attention The pioneer Class 70 'PowerHaul' class, designed to replace the Class 66 in service. Unfortunatly, the class is currently plauged with trouble. Newport docks dropped a brand-new one fresh off the ship, bent the frame and had to be sent back. Several have also caught fire for strange reasons. 70001 is named 'PowerHaul' Ugly, isn't it? Cab Moving on to more pleasing locos, 37198
  18. Saw this flypast at Fairford - so that's more or less what it looked like! Watched the T2 one as well - I would have prefered to hear what the pilots were saying and hear the Hawk!
