Aircraft Aviation 2
Thursday 7th January 2010 The Radio Panels have arrived! They work a treat, with no failures. Photos will be posted when they are mounted into the Pedestal Ledge (not sure when this will happen). Good Job Saitek!

Aircraft Aviation 2
Oh at last snail mail get round to delivering those radios! hope you can fit them soon! Heheh, thanks TRB - Hope to mount them soon. They took 13 days because they had run out of stock just before my despatch... But oh well, they're here now and all is well. Just trying to get the O/C Transponder working.
Aircraft Aviation 2
Saturday 9th January 2010 Finally! All Panels have arrived and I can focus fully on getting everything working & mounted. The Saitek Panels work fine, and so does the O/C Transponder Module. However, the O/C Module just needs some fine-tuning to get it working fully. It may only work with thw Level-D 767, but that's fine. From the second I started I knew that not everything would work with everything - It's a love-hate world after all! Below is a picture of the beautiful Opencockpit's 737 ATC Transponder Module: What's really impressive is that it is fully Backlighted with White LEDs powerful enough to power Russia for five years. The Orange Display is also nice and clear, and the whole thing works like a real Boeing Transponder. Thanks for your continued support everyone, Jack
mutley 4,497
That looks like a nice transponder module Jack, very professional
Aircraft Aviation 2
That looks like a nice transponder module Jack, very professional Heheh, cheers Mut it really is. It's just programming the little Beuaty that's a bit difficult! Ah well! I always love a challenge!
Aircraft Aviation 2
Right - Got the O/C Transponder working. I can enter Transponder Codes, not adjust Modes/Alt Source etc, but that's fine. It will fully work with the LDS 767, and it will mostly work with all other add-ons. So that's great! I have a working Transponder and Radios to add to the Pedestal! The problem is though, where do the USB Cables go... Basically, I was thinking of having a USB Hub inside the Pedestal - But now I'm worried incase that could cause a power issue (The Hub not being able to draw enough power from the PC to the Modules). Mr AA must put his thinking cap on! Now where did I put that cap...
mutley 4,497
Now where did I put that cap... It's under your pedestal! You can buy a powered USB hub no problem B)
Aircraft Aviation 2
Now where did I put that cap... It's under your pedestal! You can buy a powered USB hub no problem B) Heheh, had a peek under the Pedestal, still not found that cap . when you say "Powered USB Hub" are you referring to a USB Hub that has a DC Power Inpur to it or something? SEATAC 400
I believe that is what Mutley means. I was going to suggest the smae thing. They sell powered USB hubs that plug directly into an A/C outlet. I have one and it works great. This is an example of one. I'm not saying this is the one to buy, but this is just one such example of a powered USB hub:
mutley 4,497
Yep, SEATAC is correct, it's mains powered via a transformer. Cheers
Aircraft Aviation 2
I'll try and pick one up at PC World/Staples. So it's a Powered Hub via Mains?
mutley 4,497
Yep! Be warned they can be expensive
Aircraft Aviation 2
Yep! Be warned they can be expensive Heheh never mind Joe! I have just noticed that the USB Hub I already have actually has a DC Power Input! Talk about luck hey  .
Aircraft Aviation 2
Thursday 15th January Well after fully testing my Radio Panels and Transponder, I can safely say they are ready for mounting treatment. This weekend is when I'll be cutting the spaces for the Modules. It'll be tricky, because I have to get them *just* smaller than the Modules themselves (so that they "Rest" on the Pedestal Ledge) - This will be done three times for the Two Radios and the Transponder. After these have been mounted... The big baby of Modules is coming (unfortunately in a month or so though, as these Modules are tight on the Ol' Budget)... The Opencockpits 747-400 CDU, a whopping
Aircraft Aviation 2
Right - Just going out now to buy some bits for my USB Hub. Don't know how much I'll get done tonight. Hopefully something, although it's the first time I've ever mounted a Module so I must be careful! Stay tuned!
Aircraft Aviation 2
Saturday 16th January 2010 The first of the Avoicns has been fitted! I've fully mounted the two Saitek Radios - Unfortunately the Opencockpit's Transponder will have to wait until next weekend... But to quote Jon Bon Jovi - Two Outta' Three 'Aint Bad. I've also purchased a brand new USB Hub that is powered. This means that it draws electrical power direct from the mains, therefore allowing me to run alot of powerful power-sucking Modules on the Pedestal without using a scrap of my PC's PSU Power. The Hub sits nicely inside the Hull of the Pedestal. I'd also like to give a HUGE thank you to Simi Avi8! He has taken some of his time to produce these fantastic Boeing 747-400 Pedestal Porject supporter banners which I hope some of you will use if you want to . They look great, I tried and failed many times and producing something worse... So a big shout out to Simi for his hard work! GJ Mate! Simi's Sigs will be available for use soon, I've just gotta put them into thee first post (please check back in a few minutes)> So there we have it. The Transponder will be securely mounted next weekend, and that means that all Avionics that I have at the moment will have been Mounted (until the CDU arrives - Probably next month). Without ado... Here are some photographs! Thanks for viewing everyone, Jack

Hopefully the Transponder will look equally classy too! (It will be placed just below the Bottom Right Radio, just like in the real thing). Jack
