  1. Ok it is all in place and seems to be working well with one exception which I will come to in a minute. When I first started FSX all the scenery and various other bits were rebuilt. Not a problem but unexpected. I use SimStarter which I find is a very useful tool to set my environment up for add-ons that hit my frame rates hard. When I start this program Microsoft .NET crashes. I probably need to reinstall it if I can I will reinstall SimStarter first though. A couple of lessons learned: Check the documentation with your new drive. you may find you have free access to some v

  3. I wonder if the catain of the flight triple checked his load figures when this load of teenagers turned up and climbed into his dash 8 /Q400 I would have been a bit concerned if 3 sumo wrestlers climbed on board let alone 29!!!!!

  7. Al, its on the main display setting screen, just a tick box, if you are unaware then it's more than likely that you didn't tick it as the default setting is off. I'm looking forward to see how things are going after your installation of the Acceleration upgrade.

  11. Now pay attention John, there's NE UK, Germany, Benelux, (that's Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg), Italy, Greece and the latest batch Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Oh and not forgetting California. Chris is going to light up the world soon at this rate of output.

  12. Sorry Al, I should have mentioned that SP1&2 is available at JF's Customer support but as you're getting Acceleration it'll save you the hassle of the install. Good luck with it, hope it gets you sorted.

  15. Cowes.....that brings back a few memories. The Cowes Torquay Powerboat race of 1975. Went as navigator on the Ford Entry, "Fordspeed Too". One of the rudders fell off at the start and the skipper refused to pull out. Instead had a diver remove the second rudder and steered her on the Trim Tabs all the way there and back. Never been so terrified in my life. But hey, he won his class "Diesel", using twin Ford Sabre Turbocharged engines and clocking up 80 Knots.....just broke out in a cold sweat remembering it. 16. FSX will work with just having SP2 installed, I was referring to something I read that stated that when MS made Acceleration and based on testing by a third party, an Accel. installed computer ran in a more stable fashion.

  17. My JF DC-3 worked flawlessly without Acceleration, but I did have SP2 installed, so hopefully this will fix the issue.

  18. I agree with you, when I was a child I lived right by Heathrow Airport, In the 60s piston aircraft were still very much part of the scene, Constellations, DC3s, 4s, 6s and 7s, The odd Stratocruiser, Convairs, Breguet Universals etc, they gradually faded out over the years, Then came the loud early Jets and Turboprops, Trident's VC-10s, B707s, DC-8s, Vanguards, Viscounts, Electras Argosys, they too are now more or less just ghosts of the past, These days it's just endless streams of identical vacuum cleaners! Progreass may be good, But I prefer real aeroplanes!

  19. There were some really great piston powered aircraft developed late in the war and in the immediate post war period. In a way it's a pity that their day in the sun was cut short by the emergence of practical jet types. I can't fault the jets any more than one can fault diesels for supplanting steam locomotives and later, steamships. I like the old stuff a lot but the new stuff is better, if less sexy. John
